recently ive felt very nostalgic about this scene

feels crazy to have experienced and seen this unfold in real time, i wasn't super early but i remember finding Nobody here sometime in 2010 and then becoming obsessed with OPN's replica although i never knew they were the same person

i was there before this "blew up" and the coolest thing was that so many artists were just complete randos and they were just having fun it was so genuine because technically anyone could do it

Yeah I just got nostalgic for vaporwave going back through my favorites, which feels entirely ironic given the already nostalgic nature of the genre

First vinyls I ever copped were 2814 birth of a new day and Floral Shoppe.

Birth of a new day one of my favorite projects ever s*** is just an insane vibe I always imagined living in a high rise and playing this in the dark. I also love how it was able to escape nostalgia baiting by not doing any samples, feels like it was innovating the genre.

But then you can go on arguing what even is vaporwave without the nostalgia sampling and that’s a whole new argument about micro genres and electronic music in general
