Vulture piece on Veeze's manager:

Some interesting and very candid stuff here. Glad to see he's not performing over his own vocal tracks live.
fair but only if he keeps his word
Finally got around to listening to this. I still don’t quite understand the appeal of veeze (I really wish I did) but I can just tell that ganger is a high quality work. There really aren’t any bad songs.
Really liked:
-Luv the tour
-you know I
-weekend
-GAIG
-Safe 2
-Tony Hawk (loved this one)

Nah that’s a fair question. so veeze seems to be highly regarded everywhere I see him mentioned, like one of the best underground artists (if you can call him that) in the game right now. I genuinely don’t understand that, because I just think his music is good from what I’ve heard. Nothing earth shattering. It’s worth noting that I also don’t care for that lazy (for lack of a better word) delivery. It’s the same reason that I don’t like a lot of lucki’s music despite me thinking he’s pretty talented.
Basically, none of these songs blew me away, but I liked them, and even love one of them. I also didn’t hear any song that I found to be low quality. The other songs simply weren’t to my taste. When I say I don’t get his appeal, I just mean that to me the hype doesn’t match up with the music

Interesting. I think for a lot of people, incl me, was that from the beginning he had a lot of standout lines. a “leaned out”rapper with a heavy undertone of creativity bc he had punchlines that made you laugh or make that stank face frequently.
Not saying his lyricism is top tier but in the era of the d*** abuse rapper with mediocre lyrics, he stood out (deservedly) by putting just a little more effort into his writing.
P.S. also the fact that as a beginner listener you couldn’t really catch most of his bars, so once u got what he was saying and realized he had bars it was like a reward for most fans and made u want to post your fave lines (easter eggs), that a good majority might have missed (early on).
I tried to listen to his tape that s*** just aint music
I turned that s*** off quicker than a gay movie
sucks he cancelled his tour earlier this month he was actually coming to my city
I think he realized his "underground" hype off Ganger wasn’t enough to make this lucrative but in any case I know he can cook up another classic so looking forward to that
