My hot take is collabs like that no longer happen because:

1. It’s never been easier to sell/buy a verse.

2.They serve no real purpose anymore. Underground rappers have much less ideological/aesthetic tension with their more mainstream/street counterparts than they did in the 90s/00s. I think this is what’s driving force behind cringe moves like Earl’s Hot 97 freestyle and Max B headlining the 10k fest.
