Venezuela’s November 21 regional elections were monitored by the European Union.
After years of boycotting previous votes, Venezuela’s right-wing opposition parties agreed to participate in these elections, through a series of negotiations that were held in Mexico and sponsored by Norway and the Netherlands.
Pro-government parties swept previous regional and local elections in 2017 and 2018, respectively, winning nineteen governorships (all bar Táchira, Mérida, Anzoátegui and Nueva Esparta states) and 300 of the 335 mayoralties.

There are 111 political parties running, 37 of them national and 74 regional or local. The national parties are largely grouped in four coalitions, with some smaller parties running independent candidates.
The Maduro regime deprived Venezuelans yet again of their right to participate in a free and fair electoral process, during Venezuela’s November 21 regional and local elections. The United States supports the people of Venezuela in their desire for a peaceful restoration of democracy through free and fair elections, with full respect for freedoms of expression and peaceful assembly.

A delegation of US National Lawyers Guild members traveled to Venezuela to monitor the elections, visiting 12 voting sites in Caracas and other states. They reported, “We observed a balanced and transparent voting process which voters expressed confidence in.”
“From a technical point of view, we observed an electoral system that was fundamentally transparent and facilitated by a workforce (poll workers, coordinators, table presidents) with strong technical competence regarding the functioning of the machines and the integrated election systems."

When a single family rules for decades people stop giving two s***s about voting and dont turn up especially if the opposition force is divided.
Iran's current president won in a landslide too
Divided opposition discourages people from voting. Look at New Zealand. The national party is divided - people didnt even turn up in enough numbers to make weed legal last elections smh

Venezuela has a higher voting percentage than the u.s.
tbh just a failure of democracy worldwide
i think like, some Scandinavian country has 99% voting percentage because it's illegal to not vote, but it's like, whats the point anymore

Do you really not see the bigger picture here? The effect carries on... Families hand over, they even marry into each other, Hanovers become Windsors, Khomeini to Khamenei..all it takes is a vowel/vow lmao
the US is allied with absolute monarchies but wants to decide how fair elections are in venezuela

damn what will they do now that you’ve said this
good point, i didn't think of that
Venezuela so full of violence and poverty I have a lot of compassion with the people that live there.... They need to get rid of the entire political establishment and opposition and have a real peoples revolution. Too much corruption and blood has been spilled.
(Obviously that would just result in more violence but dam idk how it gets better)

Well I gave a perspective and I dont expect anything from you cause we on da intanat. On the intanat people never say oh I see what you saying, good point there.
You lot quick to put a landslide in a title cause it serves your interest but fail to comprehend and a***yze actual events.

You should try it, workout your brain. Try thinking and asking questions once in a while. Might go a long way.

That's Hugo Chavez mother, Venezuela is the only Latin American countries that doesn't recognize Israel and also faced a lot of US aggression, it only makes sense.
You really thought you had one with that?

You see you think Chavez did that UN speech out the kindness of his heart, I think he did it to suck up to Mahmoudy and the Ayatollah cause they promised him $$ and building free apartments in Venezuela... Spending Iranians tax payers money elsewhere all while their people suffer with poverty and insane accomodation expenses. It's dirty politics on all sides. S***shows.

Or maybe because the Bush administration literally plotted a coup on his government and had him detained by the military in 2002?
