I keep seeing people compare this to The Leftovers which I can definitely understand, but I’m actually gonna throw out another Lindelof show as a more apt comparison, and it’s one that I don’t think many ppl actually watched: Mrs. Davis on Peacock, from a couple years ago.

A lot of similarities. Both are sci-fi shows that blend elements of comedy and drama. This one is about a woman who’s seemingly one of the very few people unaffected by a virus of unknown origin that brings the rest of humanity into a sense of content and optimism. Mrs. Davis was about a woman who was one of the very few people in a world where the rest of humanity lets an artificial intelligence model take control of their lives, bringing them all to a sense of peace. And although Pluribus isn’t directly about AI, there are definitely thematic parallels to be made between the world in this show and our own world.

absolutely. pt2 seems like a weird blip or biting off more than they can chew leading to weird creative choices. this is right up there with pt1 and if anything a lot richer because they got way more time to flesh stuff out in a way that book-based material really deserves

i love how this show is eschewing cliche there are many instances but one that was pretty fun was the cut away from Carol digging the hole then returning to her digging. usually that sort of cutaway is a shortcut to skip action but i love that they’re like digging a hole is a lot of work and build a plot point around it
