Super fun, entertaining, interesting first two episodes
However, I will say that if this was not made by Vine Gilligan I think the takes would be very different. I am giving a huge amount of trust in him to pull this off, and I think that makes it way easier to suspend my disbelief about a lot of stuff and doubt that it will all come together.
same lol
I’m loving it but for some reason I thought it was gonna be about humans creating like a food or something that creates happiness and a perfect world and someone whose just miserable hating it.
The biggest disbelief I currently have is why in the f*** the 5 others (minus Diabate since he doesn’t have a family that we know of yet) are totally cool to just have their family turn into mindless robots who had their souls replaced by some virus thing. I feel like they should be going even harder than Carol is to figure out how to fix everything
Even Diabate — I mean I get why he’s happy, but I feel like realistically it would take at least a few months (if not a few years) to get jaded enough to the point where you’d just take advantage of the material pleasures. I’d be way too shaken and traumatized if I were him in that moment

I think this is how you are supposed to feel at this point
I read a lot of sci-fi books, and watch a lot sci-fi tv. This is a basic premise you’ll find in a Disney channel tv movie. As it is currently presented, 2 episodes in. I said I’m down for a potential mystery to discover what they really want, what they can really do, or willing to do if that is explored further, but if it’s left as is, that isn’t gonna do it for me.
Again jesus... any premise that you can find in any great show can be considered "basic", the least important thing in a narrative piece is in fact the premise. The sopranos isn't a great show because it's about mafia, is great because everything else in it.
And having said that... you still don't even know what the premise for this show actually is

They clearly in a stage of denial about it, and you can see this specifically in Laxmi or whatever her name is. She gets extremely upset every time someone references her son's state
Been so long since I've seen him this effusive about something

Carol could ask him how to do a bbl on a giraffe and he would know he shoulda asked that 😒

I am, but I disagree on the "he loves everything" part, he just never says anything negative about anything. Like his captain marvel tweet.

Do you just read the first sentence of post or what
In recent memory;
For All Mankind - Alternative history sci-fi. What if the race to the moon, wasn’t the end of the space race?
Foundation - Based on Isaac Asimov’s novel of the same name.
Dark Matter - what if there were alternate versions of you that tried to steal your life?
Scavengers Reign - Animation. A group of contractors marooned while surveying an alien world.
Pantheon - Animation. Deals with AI, Cyber consciousness, death/immortality. Not just the concepts of if, but the ethical and moral nature of it as well.
3 Body Problem - Based on the novel of the same name. The show is good, I personally am partial to the novel, but the show is different enough that you can enjoy them both for different reasons. Imo best to consume this completely blind, especially if you chose to read the novel. Imo it’s the best sci-fi trilogy of our generation. It is hardcore sci-fi.
Love, Death, & Robots - Animation anthology series.
The Expanse - Can’t go wrong with either the Tv show, or the novels. The Tv show only covers like the first 6 books iirc. Differences between the 2 isn’t as drastic as 3BP show vs novel, but the show combines a few characters from the novels into 1 but again can’t go wrong. Great show, great novels. As far as sci-fi TV shows, this is probably the best imo.
There’s a few more lemme know if you want em. These would
Be my top recommendations tho. Sci-fi genre been eating these last couple years
thank you bro, im gonna add scavengers reign and pantheon to my watchlist for sure and probably gonna start the expanse soon
