i have a stupid amount of years of experience w buying vinyl tho. BUT, as apparent with this most recent record store day, that experience hasnt predicated the future as easily as it used to. things really have changed after the pandemic.
more and more people are used to now buying this s*** for their walls more than anything. its always been around, but just now the amount of people that do it in insane. and people are okay w paying 40 bucks for really basic ass s*** meaning in terms of quality of the product youre getting.
anyway, what i know for sure if this s*** is selling in big box stores, its gonna be everywhere. something that prevalent for a really high cost i think will eventually become readily available for a much lower cost.
donda, a 4 lp, was priced around 60 i think when it first came out. that s*** has sold brand new, unsealed for 15 bucks. right now i immediately find a copy for 30 bucks shipped.
this dumbass on reddit keeps discussing how the value of these drake pressings comes from the fact that it's the 'first pressing', but if they are anything like any other pressing drake has done, the first pressing and the countless eventual represses will be indistinguishable from each other.
honestly, not even Take Care is worth 30 bucks. i was able to get that brand new for 10 dollars off amazon so thats the only reason i got it, even as important and monumental to my life that album is
its just really a waiting game and right now, i dont see any reason to be urgent about anything that's selling.

ok good news. just unsure cuz ive copped a few vinyls that have gone up a lot in price like wtt. i just didnt know if these were limited or not. hopefully they sit in stores

The only reason these are $60 is because they’re imports, and Amazon will more than likely have them for $5 or $10 less at release as they usually do

the pricing issue comes from the cost of production and the facility they were made in. They were not made in the US or in Canada, but in Europe according to the owner from the local record store I spoke to when discussing the crazy prices of them.
For example, pinkpantheress' RSD single black LP in 2022 was about $40 I believe due to it being made in the Czech Republic. Another thing to note is a lot of the large name artists featuring on these vinyls + sample clearances. I don't think prices will dip below maybe $50 in the near future due to some of the larger retailers (Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart) trying to out price each other.
there is a possibility that production may come over to the States and Canada and maybe prices dip to $49.99 retail in the next year or so depending on the record with sales bringing it down to $35-$40
