We can literally tell when Drake is just alone with himself on certain records, rapping

It says a lot that the only references we've gotten are for songs where he's trying out new cadences/flows.

He should strip everything down for the next one, hand business obligation of Oliver and future the prince and try to focus On one thing for the first time in a while

  • He's already spoken about being obsessed with finding new flows before. Just wish he didn't need help with that either, because it leads to s*** like this when niggas are really questioning your penmanship as a whole.

Pnd was so ass after pnd3 holy f***

That's really what it boils down to at the end of the day. We also have to give these artists a lot more credit because really, they're also master curators. We can say "Rihanna and Beyoncé don't write their s***" but they are excellent curators. They have an ear for what works. That's a skill in and of itself that many songwriters themselves lack. Their ability to elevate songs and make them something else entirely. Another skill. It's so many levels to this music thing but I get how people only care about getting their surface-level takes off lol.

Yeah like, to your point Rihanna had to hear PND's Work and Wild Thoughts and choose that particular record amongst hundreds of records that are done for her. That is definitely a skill and a vital one at that.

Really though, it feels like a lot of ppl forget Drake isn't J. Cole. He's not Kendrick. He competes with them, but he's also an R&B act, a pop act, and he's far more prolific and extends himself further than those guys. It's not humanly possible to put together the catalog that Drake has put together without collaboration.

But TO ME, that doesn't mean he can't write. So if it's acknowledged that he's an elite writer and rapper, a reference record for track 8 on his 10th album or whatever is not really that big of a deal TO ME. It's completely understandable, and it makes sense.

But rappers like Kendrick, JID and Denzel Curry do this all of the time and where are their reference tracks?? They literally try new cadences and flows several times in one f***ing song on numerous occasions.

In all seriousness, have pop stars had these many reference tracks leaked? I may be ignororant because I don't really listen to or follow up with it, but this is insane.
