A lot of people I hang with talk about rap and hot topics in music. All of them are ready for a new drake project and none of the care about these references that pop up(or this most recent beef tbh)

1) because we don’t know when the reference was recoded. We don’t even really know the full backstory behind these references at all lol.

2) drake just makes good music and tbh that’s going to trump this discourse over if it matters or not.

I think after the Pusha T beef Drake shifted his focus to something bigger than hip hop. He still cares about his legacy but not to hip hop purists. So you’re either going to be ok with this stuff or you aren’t but either way Drake isn’t going anywhere unless he does something really bad/illegal.

I've noticed that he'll add his own second verse to the reference tracks (Know yourself,10 bands, Ratchet, Mob ties, Legend) so it's not bar for bar just doing a cover of another track.Besides jumbotron which is only one verse.
