yes the tech is there already
i was given temporary access to an experimental research model from one of the major ai labs back in february, which was trained on copyrighted material (this is normal for internal research btw) and i got some vocals that sounded like ye...
the main issue was it didnt sound like real english/words. but like i said it was a small model for internal research, scaling it up would do what you're asking. e.g. udio and suno have shown they can generate realistic singing without human involvement
oh actually another company (again can't mention who) showed me a demo of their singing model which was very coherent, probably the best i've heard so far. that company is one of the major players in that field rn
ftr i don't support music being "ruined" like this. i'm interested in this tech and work on adjacent projects (or stuff like this which i developed the first few models for back in april last year)
This is super interesting thanks for answering
What are some of your takeaways with working with those early models
How do you feel about grimes pov of open sourcing all art. I see It as a potential for artist to make money forever and āmakeā music forever as others would be them when they needed to. Iām interested in what the effects of something like that catching on.
Iāve use suno and others and have been impressed with the ability to submit my own lyrics and it would sing them
I was not aware of the grimes project do you have any more information regarding that project or others like it
Thanks for the info
