Album went from a 3 to at least 6.5 - 7 with this update. I still enjoy Vultures 1 by far but this isn’t horrible anymore

I feel like I’m one of the few who really fw’s both albums (I slighlty prefer V2) genuinely the only songs I don’t bump all the time are Hoodrat, problematic, beg forgiveness and husband and I really feel like keys to my life don’t get the credit it deserves. My hot take would be I prefer both these albums over JIK and Ye

Not a bad take honestly, I feel like even review wise people aren't taking them seriously enough cuz at this point in time it's easier to s*** on ye than say you fw the music but he put himself in this position I guess. People be acting like both albums were made by Satan himself and ignoring the fact that there's worse music out there actively being made

An album comprised of V1&V2 highlights would be GAS, but as of now, the best Vultures listening experience is sequencing your favorite tracks from both, and putting them on a separate playlist.

Donda's sequencing & it's Deluxe having a completely different track order, signaled that Ye doesn't care about album sequencing anymore.

Kanye is essentially releasing playlists now. The Vultures era isn't a trilogy of albums. V1 & V2 are collections of random songs for fans to pick their favorites, and cobble together their own album.

It's like a choose your own adventure, thanks Kanye!

If he’d of just dropped V2 mixed properly and without the AI things would have been so much better those are the only things I see people complain about but even after the updates people won’t look past that

Frantically mixing a fan-edit at 3 in the morning is the type of production that's filled with the exaggerated swagger of a bipolar rapper.

Vultures 2 really makes you feel like Kanye West! 8/10

Nah, TLOP had an intentional track-list. I couldn't imagine another 4 tracks opening the album, and Saint Pablo is the perfect closer.

Later albums had decent sequencing too. Ye and JIK had cinematic openers/closers that acted as bookends, with their respective mid-sections mostly interchangeable.

I even thought Donda had fairly thought-out sequencing, with Off The Grid, Hurricane, and Praise God, being one of Ye's BEST 3 track runs in his discogs.

BUT "Donda (deluxe)" completely threw all that out the window; shuffling all the tracks around, and slapping pt.2's in the middle of the track-list.

I wouldn't mind IF, this wasn't the version first-timers ran to when listening to Donda. The Deluxe is an objectively worse listening experience, and I feel bad for anyone who's first introduction to this masterpiece was it's botched and bloated successor.

The release of the deluxe was a clear indicator that Ye didn't give a s*** about how the public received his music. Even if his earlier works' sequencing wasn't air-tight, this sequencing was so bad, it misrepresented the music and hurt the listening experience.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with most of what you say here, but tbf Saint Pablo wasn't added to TLOP for a full 4 months - until then, the album seemed to just randomly end on Fade, and the general consensus in fan circles was basically that everything after Frank's Track was basically bonus tracks.

I feel you, TLOP got wayy better post-updates. It's crazy to think it went 4 months without Saint Pablo!

Now that I think about it, I do remember thinking the album was messy upon release.

That track alone took it from a 6.5/10 to a 9/10. Might be glaze but it's that good

Yeah like the addition of one song doesn't necessarily bring the entire album up for me on its own, a part of it is definitely the way it made the project feel like a full body of work at that point.

They were literally billed as bonus tracks when it first released. Tidal's press release said so. That information quickly disappeared and I always felt that was Ye trying to muddy the waters of what exactly the album was, letting go of his perfectionist streak, no longer caring about critics, etc.

I definitely considered them as such for quite a while I remember, and had them marked as such in my iTunes for memory. 30 Hours straight-up has ye talking about bonus tracks, so that was certainly the original intention.

Ha yeah that was hilarious. And yet the chief complaint in most reviews about the album was that it felt messy and long, with only two or three reviews citing the fact that the album proper ended with Wolves/Frank's Track. I always wondered why he didn't just continue to stress that those were bonus tracks, which would have removed that criticism of the album. That's why I felt he didn't actually care. My take is that Pablo is meant to be a living breathing album not just via the updates, but in how it replicates that Madison Square Garden listening experience. That's what I feel the album is.

What's funny is that the Donda Part 2s are clearly bonus tracks, and yet by that point in the streaming age it's like critics forgot that CDs used to have bonus tracks and complained that the album was 27 tracks long and that songs repeat themselves. I was baffled by that when it's clearly 23 tracks with four bonus.

Is the transition in Dead right before Kanye’s last verse starts at 3:00 supposed sound like a skip?
