I agree with the soul thing. I feel pop music has been soulless for 10 years pretty much.

What was the last universally great song that everybody liked that will go down as a classic? What was the song that ranks up there with a MJ hit, or a bohemian rhapsody? What recent pop songs will be played on the oldies stations in future years?
I feel like taylor swift songs will not stand the test of time, and neither will Blinding Lights.

It makes me start to think that what we view as classics were just songs that were jammed down our throats and we were forced to listen to them hundreds of times.

But then I think that’s not the case, that has only happened recently. I believe music has got worse.

I’ll end this comment like this. What are 5 songs that came out in the last 10 years that will be viewed by the majority of people as a classic?

Get lucky by daft punk is one that comes to mind, but that was a little more than 10 years ago.

    Haha where’d you camp?

I really feel it’s soulless. I feel like it’s a forced manufactured hit and I don’t here it anymore on the radio

There's a lot of pop songs these days that are soulless, but Blinding Lights ain't one of them lmao it's the opposite of a manufactured hit.

It literally flopped when it came out. I remember users on this site saying it was dead in the water. And then people slowly gravitated to it and listened (and still listen) to it, and it became a huge hit over time. Time being the key word, because the amount of s*** #1s that drop off right away are manyyy. It's okay to say you don't like the song, but its just about universally a classic as you can get in this day and age.

Now point out the numerous of big hits that came after it that clearly ripped on what Blinding Lights did, then I'll wholeheartedly agree.

well yeah music has been vastly devalued since all of it became widely accessible.

therefore people do not see it the same and some people never are going to grow to actually love it

    so the market has adapted.
