It is stated that when Hov writes he comes in and the producers plays a beat, he’ll pace back and forth for 15 minutes mumbling and write in his head and then jump in the booth and it’s done.

Leaving people to believe he just some how came up with an entire verse just like that on the spot as if it’s magic, without writing it down.

Now let’s see 2 things Guru has said:
“Jay writes in his head, so we have times where he goes, ‘I need to download.’ He doesn’t call it that, but that’s what I call it. There’s so much stuff in his head that sometimes he just raps to a hi-hat or to a click or to nothing because he’s writing songs and he needs to remember them so he’ll record them. So it’s like, take that out the brain until I need it again. I can put it back in there when I need to say it.

Now If y’all know Guru you know Jay records everything with him, so any beat Jay hoping on Guru obviously has. Now if Jay was writing to a specific beat why not pull up that beat when it’s time to “download” instead of Jay recording to a hi hat or metronome. It’s because a lot of these rhymes Jay wrote in his head to no beat

    Now next Guru statement:
“Jay memorizes his raps before he gets in the booth. That’s all it is. Too many MCs write their raps in the booth. Jay doesn’t write his rhymes down, but he memorizes and says the rap 50,000 times before he even thinks about stepping in the booth.

Yeah I find it hard to believe Jay can mumble a flow, write the words in his head and memorize it 100s of times all in 15 minutes before recording one take.

Alright this is what I believe happens:
Jay spent (talking when he was more active with music, not sure how often he writes now) a lot of his time coming up with verses, prolly to no beat at all, during his free time. And then he would record them with Guru so he wouldn’t forget them. He does this as a way to stack up a s*** load of verses so he doesn’t forget them.

Then when he’s in the studio and a producer comes up with a beat, when Jay starts mumbling what we think he’s doing is coming up with new s*** on the spot but what it sounds like he’s REALLY doing is going over old rhymes he’s pre-written to see which will match this particular beat being played.

Isn’t Jay a big reader of 48 laws? Well one of the chapters says something about make your work look effortless so you have this god like aura, don’t showcase how many hours you spent on it so it appears as if it was magic how you created it.

If it's anything like nas' book of rhymes, but more like mental version of it. Then jay probably thinking of lines as the day goes by and instead of writing them down he memorizes them and is somehow able to regurgitate them when he writing a song

Yes it’s a great thing. The Universe and 48 laws always a great thing. Dragon Energy motivates people to follow their heart unapologetically and watch everything fall in place in your life as if it was magic.

Basically “downloading” or recording to a metronome is Hov’s way of “writing in a book”

Yeah I know it’s said Hov was an avid reader of that book so wouldn’t be surprised if he applied a lot of those methods
