They will provide "epic" movies like Endgame or San Andreas
garbage CG movies that just follow an extremely surface level narrative and dont give a single s*** about detail or world building
Endgame’s main selling point is using ten years of worldbuilding tho
10 years of worldbuilding amidst trash green screen formulaic ass forgettable movies and all that to establish a world that is far less interesting and detailed than just the first 10 minutes of a LOTR film
It’s pretty weird that people can’t like both
MCU movies and those “real cinema” movies are both equally great to me
Same to me bro. I enjoy big blockbuster popcorn flicks as well as Indie flicks
Although I agree with some of what you said, we've already started to see a decent amount of films coming to Netflix where they clearly didn't care about how commercial it would be. Mank, I'm thinking of ending things, The Irishman and others have all been focused more on the art than the marketability.
Seems like Netflix goes to directors and says, it doesn't matter how this would do in the box office since it's going straight to streaming, make whatever you want. And we're getting some interesting stuff. Disney's just fixated on making s***ty CGI blockbusters cause that's what their audience wants and it works for them
I think streaming can be good in that good directors can make interesting s*** when they don't have to care about box office numbers. But it does depend on the willingness of the streaming providers. Netflix has been good about it so far
I already feel Mank is Finchers worst film yet and Roma was also Cuarons worst film yet. It feels more like Netflix is giving a blank check for these filmmakers to make movies that studios back in the day didn’t let them do for good reason.
I will say The Irishman is great but it’s coming from a filmmaker who is far beyond his years and really of a dying breed in Hollywood. Also I don’t consider any of what you named to be blockbuster art. The blockbusters these streaming companies are green lighting sound absolutely awful. I already think WW84 looks horrendous but we’ve already seen Bright and how f***ing bad that is. And then ofc the LOTR series from Amazon looks dead on arrival after the JA Bayona hire

Wtf
Nigga never seen Alien 3
Nigga never seen Alien 3
tbh I’d take alien 3 over 2 hours of a filmmaker being bitter that Orson Welles s***s on him

Username to Welles defense correlating
Waiting for Nolan to get dragged again....
He really seems to worry about the small people in the industry, I don’t get how people can’t see that
He doesn't he's just interested in his films being on the big screen. He can be right and a priveleged corny a******.
He's always been both
MCU hate
Y’all clowns. Go see ur indie movie snoozefests
Yea the hate for MCU kinda cringe. They gave their all for that universe

Niggas just mad they don't get to see movies on a huge screen with whatever picture pixels and gasp with other watchers. I'm happy I can watch all this s*** without leaving the house

That's fair. I admittedly haven't seen Mank yet, but it was more about how in the streaming era these studios are still capable of making films that aren't produced with the sole interest of widespread appeal and making a billion dollars. These streaming services are looking for a wide verity of content and that includes movies that aren't necessarily blockbuster action type films. I think that in the streaming era there's great (if not more) incentive to make good quality films over blockbusters given that ticket sales don't matter. Blockbuster art films are probably taking the biggest hit due to streaming though which you mentioned
Regardless of how good Mank actually is, it's target audience clearly isn't the average American. Maybe they need to watch more carefully exactly what they're greenlighting (I wasn't a big fan of Roma either although it looked nice) and find a balance between strange passion project of a popular filmmaker and whatever the f*** disney is doing

Yeah. I want to be optimistic and hope streaming doesnt hurt the indie film or even what mid budget filmmakers are doing. Sound of Metal and the Small Axes films that Steve McQueen just did are really good imo so I hope I continue to see good art in that lane
but Scorsese is such a massive rarity because hes a filmmaker that is so revered from the golden age of Hollywood who ALSO happens to still be extremely brilliant and thats the only reason hes getting these blank checks to make amazing art. I don't think any other filmmaker in the world who might be that talented like a PTA or Coen Brothers would ever even see a 100 million budget from a streaming company imo

Niggas in here using 200 words just to say “MCU trash, first 10 min of LOTR s***s on it”

Like s*** like MCU and more artistic s*** can be both likeable
I like both the MCU/Disney and WB properties.
However I go to them for totally different. things
