They dropped 8 albums in 5 years and most of their fans enjoyed most of them. Not sure how it's a failure. All groups are doomed. As evidenced by the lack of groups that ever stuck together.

You want them to do a plugnb album? Is Surf Gang more successful?

If I wanted to yeah, I can listen to whatever I choose around anybody idc. Most people dont even care what u listen to

I dont really listen to their music now though, but i was in HS when they were coming out originally and all the girls i hung out with listened to them

The Saturation trilogy was dope but it was literally over saturation. Plus their second best member getting kicked out right after that didn't help

  • Their saturation run was insane, ameer was the most confident member of the group and it showed, their shtick was doomed from the start fr, too many voices that it eventually gets annoying when you want an actual cohesive sound and they were super corny but that worked for a bit

Yeah, girls that are into that genre. They probably also like Tyler the creator, jpegmafia, and Freddie Gibbs. And not all of their music, they just had a couple songs with big scare the hoes energy

You think girls that like tyler listen to freddie gibbs?

I’m a fan but looking back, this was the epitome of scaring the hoes music. And they leaned so heavy into their quirkiness with their image, and it was bold as hell but also the exact opposite of where mainstream hip hop was going.
Even without the internal conflict that led to them disbanding, could they have thrived in the current hip hop realm? Would Drake ever have looked their way? Would they be collabing with Sexyy Red and Luh Tyler? Or would they just have fizzled out after a few albums?

They came at a time right after 2016-2017 where it looked like we was going into a cultural renaissance and niggas wouldn’t just regurgitate the same s*** from 2013-2016 indefinitely.

If that type of artist came out now they would only focus on the aesthetic and then phone in the music part lol

I also think things would have gone differently if Ameer never got kicked out and he was the “relatable/regular” one among all the weird eccentric dudes, it would have been a balance

Even in how you’re talking about them is the epitome of what the last few years have done to the rap fan, talking like a mini executive instead of just acknowledging if something is good or not lol. F*** whether or not they were original and the music was good, they’re too eccentric to be in clubs and peoples outfit tik toks

    Bro what

An overall hip hop fan probably listens to all of them but bh and Tyler fans ain’t checking for jpeg and Freddie like that lmao

Yes because you shouldn’t be trying to f*** b****es you have to pretend to be someone else for/if she already fw you the song is not gonna be the difference maker and if she not fw you doomed anyway nigga

but even in what you’re trying to imply, there is a sublabel of hoe who like that type of music brother. Baggy dad jeans dirty shoes lol

This is also the dumb thing about “scare the hoes” / “everyone should make the same thing” mentality lol

No one is leaps and bounds ahead of the pack numbers wise to where you can say making pluggnb or opium knockoff s*** or lil baby / Gunna type s*** is the answer to not flopping lol

    WESLEY PRESELY

    That’s not a hot take

The moment he left, the dynamic got negatively impacted and never fully recovered

Surreal how growing up id read wikipedias and kinda peep the moment where this happens but now we see it happen to people/acts in real time and they never recover lol

DaBaby rolling loud and Ameer getting kicked out comes to mind instantly

Man I genuinely don’t understand dudes that put that much thought into the “what would you play with a girl” s***

Like if she already interested then just play whatever, I promise you she not gonna care unless the first song you put on is some death grips s*** with no context. But like who tf would even do that?

So this is the one thread where all of the sudden ktt is pushing back against use of this term but all the other times it was fine? and it’s in defense of brockhampton, who regularly gets clowned here? oh my days, how times have changed
