Yeah if you're buying used cars that are under 8-10K, paying for them outright all at once is always the best choice. Just take the car to a mechanic you trust or at least an Express Oil change or something and ask them to give it a look over and let you know if anything that stands out to them that you should worry about

If the place selling you the car is half-decent, they will have no problem letting you take the car to a mechanic of your choosing to check it out. If you dont wanna ask, just take it for a test drive again and then do it

@op I’m going to houston next weekend and rented a nice car on Turo. Any advice on which parts of town to stay away from so they car doesn’t get broken into or stolen?

Also flying into hobby airport which I’m hoping is a decent side of town.

I’d avoid or at least be wary of
Northeast , east end and third ward as a whole DEFINITELY SAY FAR AWAY FROM SUNNYSIDE

Bellaire , mid town and downtown are safest places in the city IMO but still be on your guard because things have been getting worse here

The night life on the weekends is top notch so enjoy that
