Well I'm glad you respect T.I. and not hating, the thread is "Was" T.i. the King, not "IS" T.i. the king. Even though he ain't anymore, what do you think?

You right, he was mf GOAT. The biggest rapper the South has ever seen next to Wayne.

He isn't exactly HOV level, like how JAY is seen in the East Coast. He's almost there tho.

  • Dec 30, 2019

In 2006 yeah. Being 8/9 and TI being inescapable with classic content left and right

Wayne was definitely ahead musicality at that point. Commercially yah ti had it but Wayne’s impact is longer and he has hits with hot Boys

Wayne didnt overtake him until Drought 3 came out. And Wayne was a non-factor in the hot boyz era. BG and Juve were the face of that group. Wayne was the kid who was the 3rd or 4th option. You cant attribute that impact to him when musically he was a non-factor until 2004 and commercially he didnt move solid units until 2008.

People didnt take wayne serious until like 05ish so he had 2 albums. T.I. had 3 solid tapes by 06

I think the real discussion to be had here is whether T.I. or Gucci Mane were the real King of the South. Both have valid claims to be considered the GOAT or the King of the South.

Nobody was saying wayne was better than t.i. in 2006. He had to prove himself and he did after t.i. took over

Gucci! I'm Up and Trap God were great mixtapes, look at Truth, Spread The Word, Get Lost, Broght Out Them Racks... good songs

Maybe I make a Wayne or Gucci "King" thread next now that I've covered Biggie and T.i.

    From 2000 to 2012

    Em (2000-2002) > 50 (2003-2005) > TI (2006-2007) > Wayne/Kanye (2007-2008) > Wayne (2008-2009) > Wayne/Em (2010-2011) > Drake (since 2012)

This seems to be how the reigns went based on research/memory

Do you just like it more or do you have actual reasons why it's the better album?

    King had:

    • What You Know
    • You Know Who
    • Gravedigger
    • KING Back
    • Front Back

    etc....

Commercially but I was wrong. TI was bigger than Wayne in 2006, but Jay Z was still bigger than TI that year

King is better. LR only has better production. King has better hits, better songs individually, better lyrically, and T.I. doesn't get washed by guest features.

Having big hits songs doesn't make an album better. Late Registration is one of the greatest rap albums this century.
