Background info:
This project, The Future is Forever, was to be done everything by just me as a showcase and to flex musically not only to showoff n prove myself in business but also for art therapy - but next project will have features and collaborators.
I used to work at a local studio for mixing and co-production before covid for some years but had to quit due to being an at risk health person, I did beat selling irl n online till a year or two ago but now it's more 1 on 1 basis, and also online when I quit my studio job I do loop packs, chord playing, sample recreation and co-production to this day plus mixing - irl and thru online.
And then I decided to finally do my own thing. With my instrumental album that was planned for late 2022 but my harddrive n home studio that had the stems got destroyed which led to it being cancelled, which then led to me doing a full on vocalized album in 2023 with advice and studio access from friends in AZ and CA. The two interludes on TFIF are from the instrumental album, Grief is Love, and a few more that were saved n salvaged from the destruction will probably be released in some form either as loosies or an EP at some point.

Damn this sounds dope, the whole presentation is really cool and the production sounds great, nostalgic but fresh, I think I see the vision. Looking forward to the single, interested to hear a full track after all those previews

Thank u and I really appreciate the attention n listen, and I'm glad you actually like it !
And yes that is the idea, mixing n clashing of old and new. Like for example the first song preview after the intro talking in the comp, the bassline is actually modern 808s, but I used them in a bass guitar type of way that the 80s pop singers and black funk bands would do. Or like the "feel what's real" preview is using a clone of a very famous drum machine called the LinnDrum LM2 that was used heavily by Prince and a few others - but I then filtered them through modern programs. Etc. There's a lot of little things like that of mashing the old and the modern into something new and unique to me.
There is a follow through-line "story" on the full album too with the tracklisting. Sequencing is very important to me for a full-on project.
But overall I wanted to make something familiar but still new n distinct, n something that's "easy listening" but has edge and punch to it.
Most of the sounds I sound design myself and I mixed every track individually, but the mastering on all of them is nearly the same to keep a cohesion. And every track has this background static noise you will be able to hear too that pulls it together.
Once the full album comes out in October Im willing to break down the ins and outs of the project sounds n files n whatnot, if people are interested in something like that. The engineering and sound design I poured a lot into, n conversed with ppl irl to get it right.
Lot of the tracks have their own electronic genre inspiration as well. Such as UK Garage for No More Traffic, House for Wash My Hands, Disco for Identity Theft Me, EDM for I'm a Dog, Funk for A New Light etc. that would be used as a basis to build off of and twist.
But I didn't want the influences and the merging of "old n new" to come off as a gimmick or be so obvious on the nose - so getting cohesion and an overall style was very important so it doesn't fall into that trap.
I wasn't lying that it was coming soon brother, this time
