The way it moves into following the sisters life, reminds me so much of A Place Beyond the Pines, same as the score.
When she's in the elevator and almost texted "I just want to be a family again"
That s*** broke me. I had to pause due to the relatability for me.

that s*** killed me fr
that s*** killed me fr
Yeah like I had already cried a few times from the movie, so I was already kind of 'exhausted' in a sense. And that scene hit and I read that and just paused and sat for a minute in my chair crying.
It's alright
🌽 placement on some songs but movie dope
Such a good movie. Damn.
This really was A Place Beyond the Pines of 2019
Naaaaw

Broke down for the same reasons man
This movie has the most ktt/hiphopheads centric soundtrack of any movie ever and it's GOAT for that alone
I remember seeing the trailer for this when it first aired, I was caught off guard by the Frank Ocean music or at least what sounded like him
Never was bought by what the trailer showed or heard about it since but obviously it made waves (Heeeeeeheheheheh) here and it popped on my redbox so I just rented it, going in total blind
Man..
It’s interesting how the two POVs clashes into each other’s contrast of how opposite they are, but how in hindsight those two POVs are kinda one and only, two black and white characters journey that makes one, wonder if intentional
It’s sometimes very innocent, it caught me some emotions that seems like a lifetime ago, sometimes it felt too real
Love the way it was shot
Some songs picks are cheesy but I can’t lie, it’s a wet dream to hear Ye and Radiohead together at last
Radiohead song and the whole scene hit too close to home.. scary..
But at the same time I have to separate the emotions apart and keep it rational: the movie feel like it’s trying to buy some time sometimes, kinda how some cheap books will use some tricks so they end up having more pages to look fuller
Like the whole last scene felt like a song fading out, more so than using every second to say something, some moods are nice, but too much moods can overdo it, and it didn’t feel like it was saying much about the story
Still nice tho, Sterling Brown stole the show imo

on God, i have a feeling this is the first wave of "orange beanie" movies
i'm still thinking about this film and idk man
i was hype af about this movie after hearing wesley morris talk about it in like March and couldn't get to see it in theaters because of the weird ass times it was showing here. literally cash app'd my homie to see it in NY and she loved it
but something about it just didn't work. a couple of times of music took me out of it and the "tragedy" of the son's arc didn't really hit for me
BUT everything with Taylor was like 9.5/10
i kinda hate euphoria so i wonder if alexa demie's presence played a factor but i'm willing to give it another viewing
holy s*** this kid tearing his room apart to Tyler the creator you can’t be serious right now this s*** so corny w the music
