la cabra and librae r also fairly close 2gether 👀
oh f*** if i could do two places in one day it would make planning these visits so much easier but i don’t wanna do that cause pastries go stale way too quickly
actually maybe i’ll just get lil from cabra this time since i tried most of their s*** last time

joes coffee lol
the morning bar was giving cliff bar which isnt necessarily a bad thing
ice cream sando from the good batch-- good ice cream sando but nothing memorable at all tbh. solid but not worth going out ur way for

namkeen - tikkaville sando. meat is halal, pakistani inspired. the tikka sauce is very lovely. different for sure from the rowdy rooster sando tho i do hear comparisons--rowdy rooster is much more spiced, herbier, chutney-er, and the onions bite. the namkeen tikkaville is a much creamier sauce. both are good but taste v different
went to the natasha pickowicz bake sale benefit

clockwise from top:

i liked the bibingka and the hotteok the best bc theyre the most unique of the bunch imo--never had bibingka, never had basil in a sweet context, never had savory hotteok. i know both the hotteok and bibingka ppl do popups but they never had enough things i was intrigued by at their respective popups for me to go, but these 2 items hit
jody liked the choco fennel cookie and the brownie cake the best
tandem made a better granola shortbread for sure lol
i wanted to try grossys tho bc his food always looks so good on ig, but hes really not a baker so much as a savory recipe person so it makes sense. they made the same thing bc the prompt was to make stuff inspired by natasha's new cookbook, so ig that was one of her cookbook recipes
i thought the choco chip cookie was impressive in that it remained fairly soft and somewhat gooey in the middle even tho they were clearly cooled already.
i think the most popular items overall were the
the trend is floral deco lol
ties into why from lucie is so popular rn
Hope she does another bake sale soon, theyre fairly infrequent but theyre always really crazy but pretty fun

Pulled pork with collard greens 8/10
Onion rings 9/10
Brisket and baked beans. Brisket was dry 6/10.
Full rack of ribs 8.5/10. Fries were whatever, just filler.
Banana pudding and bread pudding. 8/10

yeah, sohla and claire have been killing it. not surprised tbh. they were kind of the stars.
totally forgot about alex lol. he wasn't a chef, iirc, so he was kind of limited by what he can do independently. could've gone to eater or something though
Also @proper
Heard michaeli bakery has some of the best rugelach in town
Its by golden diner whose matcha coffee cake i stan
And kopitiam which has a great malaysian dessert selection (and savory food / malaysian coffee or tea)
Both golden diner and kopitiam are james beard nominees ✨
