    brunch at gage and tollner


    pastry selection -
    ramp butter and ramp biskie
    pistachio escargot
    carmelized carrot danish
    danish went off, others were aiight
    wish the biskie was warm, but il keep it a buck im so sorry to caroline schiff the biscuit texture wasnt my thing, it felt a lil dry.
    it wasnt rly flaky, but it wasnt tender like a drop biscuit



    burger was aight
    the golden bread was sooooo good tho

    like perfectly brulee'ed bread pudding french toast casserole. 11/10 highly recommend


    serendipity3 frozen hot chocolate - i rly liked it. like a slushified hot cocoa i used 2 have the mix and make these sometimes


    ha's dac biet x good times deli x apollo bagels (from leo/ops) popup


    i got the banh mi pate bagel (pate, viet mayo, pickles), bf got the sweet heart attack (canadian bacon, fried egg, jam)
    bagels were interesting, its a sourdough bagel and definitely airier than a reg bagel by a lot, but it also no longer is rly a classic bagel texture at all. like its crunchy on the outside but doesnt have the same chewy texture.
    pretty good tho overall, the pate hit. bfs bagel kinda got burnt tho :') they were rly swamped



    la dinastia. the last cuban chinese restaurant in the uws. got the crackling boneless chicken / chicharron de pollo w the pork fried rice, a side of maduros, and the general tso chicken
    all pretty solid, the fried rice was rly smoky. the general tso was crispy and nice
    they also have a ropa vieja that looks rly good and a wonton soup that looks dece

    Brother I usually eat pizza three times a week with a Miller light. I order large and finish it in 45 mins or so

    4 charles prime rib








    overall i rly liked this:

    • mac and cheese went crazy
    • creamed spinach was rly interesting, very gorgonzola-y
    • burger w egg and bacon was solid, good amt of pickle. idk if its the best burger in ny tho like..... i fl like thats down to personal pref re: patty style and toppings
    • french dip was solid
    • drinks were great
    • bacon was thick cut and pretty sweet, personally am not a huge fan of bacon but it was nice
    • desserts were crazy, super concentrated in flavor. the strawberry ice cream was so strawberry-y it is great
    • brick chicken was rly tasty
    • green beans were yummy
    • hated the prime rib itself tho, we got the charles cut. it was just sooooo salty and not nearly as good as the house of prime rib or homemade prime rib. like texturally it was wasnt tough but it was not buttery
    • fries were great
    • espresso martini is rly good, has this nice chocolatey note

    honestly the hospitality and ambiance was so good that it made everything rly good. like the smith cld come up with the same exact burger and it just wouldnt hit bc the hospitality isnt there
    overall id probably go back just to get the mac and cheese and the strawberry ice cream lolol

    Its just a burger

    I just like a good smash burger tbh i find steak house burgers good but i never crave them tbh

    I think its just too much patty and not enuff of the other stuff for me i like pickles tomatoes lettuce and sauce and all rhat

    My fave burger is in n out
    But in ny i like mighties, joe jr, and jg melon a lot (tavern style)
