That praise...damn
How long did you have to wait?
That praise...damn
How long did you have to wait?
like 5 minutes
that chocolate croissant is insane
also the chocolate is more like a thick ganache instead of a solid bar which works/taste good here but i usually prefer solid bar chocolate.
Oxtail Stew and Risotto

heat
Thought the hype would mean a line around the block
only on weekends

Post disc golf tournement lunch
post disc golf tournament
gonna post a bunch more 2 catch up to today lol
my friends had their wedding at blue hill at stone barns
shiitake donut

this was ok
chip w some guacish dip
tomato tartelet--these were it i clda eaten a million of these. super lovely punchy tomato flavor--sweet tangy fruity umami just rly great
dont rmmber
didnt care for this
dont rmmber
corn burger thing-- this was aight... wish it was corn bread but it was just bread

tomato salad
i liked how seasonal their menu is but idk i honestly wld rather eat my own tomato salad... there was so ligjhtly seasoned w just the ittiest bittiest dallops of sauce and s*** like gimme some olive oil give me some worcestershire sauce i need more... nobody wants frisee in 2023 come on now

ravioli w summer veg (green beans and stuff)
honestly rly lovely, sauce was sungold tomatoes (which were at peak season when we ate this lol) and it was rly tastey. the texture inside the raviolo was so crisp and nice, wld demolish a plate of these
main course-- i dont think anyone at the table liked this one lol
the steak was kinda just steak, the rectangle of meat was too salty for some ppl. i thought it was fine but just felt like left over braised beef where a crust has started to form bc it started to dry out. imo still tastier than the steak. the eggplant was just an eggplant
potato disk was like plain salt no pepper mashed potatoes lmao
overall felt a little clinical
their cake with like einkorn honey and apricot was super tasty tho, not very sweet just rly nice and delicate
and truffles to end

joe jr for burgers and egg creams
i rly like joe jr its such a good hangover brunch spot
was making a lot of panzanella this summer
added roasted corn to some, roasted peach to others, etc. this one i think i did lemon basil
matcha shaved ice at tonchin, not too sweet, good punch matcha flavor. not as good as cha an but u dont have to line up for an hour for this one so u know. posted the strawb one previously which i liked a lot too
nura

the roti was rly good, we subbed the naan for roti
the dips were also super tasty
i think after the prawns at empellon i stopped wanting to order prawns at restaurants but these were rly yummy, i was rly surprised. sweet, savory, lovely char, super buttery, smoky, etc
tomato salad w paneer--their paneer is just ricotta lol like its not presssed or anything its just the curds
again--i think its safer to just eat a tomato salad at home... theres something rly disappointing bout paying 20$ for a tomato salad that is not as good as homemade
mussels escabeche -- i liked this a lot but my spanish friends were confused about the escabeche-ness of it. it was tasty tho id eat it again
scallop in sungold sauce... super mid tbh. its like 12$ for a single scallop
and not memorable or all that crazy
lamb kofta--p good, juicy and flavorful. solid but not lifechanging
last and least, our server rly sold us on this green rice vegetarian situation but lemme tell u we all hate cilantro and this s*** is green solely off the amount of cilantro in it so we all hated it. gave it to bf when i got home. it was also like meant to be paella ish and these spanish girlies were !!!!not having it!!!!!!
never seen them so quiet picking at rice looking confused before
overall, cute vibes and interior but i dont think id go back for food--its too pricy to be so hit or miss

asian jewels
their xian shui jiao (far left) was rly mid, no filling just a ton of the mochi bit
their cheung fun with the chinese donut in the middle was garbo. donut was stale as f***, sauce they give u isnt the right sauce
this was fine but i wish they gave us the sauce on the side lol just a single drizzle does nothing for me

picnic at central park ft magnolia bakery and soybean chen flower shop
magnolia bakery red velvet is super mid, not a banana pudding girl, but carrot cake was good.
the tofu pudding from soybean chen was good, but i prefer fong on bc 1. not far as s*** 2. they giv u more of the syrup so its a bit sweeter. still hit tho
post disc golf tournament
yes, it was a two day tournament
i finished 4th
all in all made money, and my ego was fed
osamil
idk who told me about this spot but the foods actually rly solid

kfc was good, kimchi fried rice was super yummy w rly thick cut bacon and homemade kimchi. the pajeon was super crispy w a good filling to batter ratio. all of it was rly well executed, and drinks were rly tasty, definitely recommend. i think best pajeon ive had in ktown
the tik tok girlies said milano market for chicken caesar wrap so i got milano market chicken caesar wrap.
s*** was super stuffed, rly flavorful. shlda skipped the basil, still good tho. croutons got a lil soggy since it was Quite saucy
but v yum. wanna try their sandos next bc ppl saying their chicken parm is fire
tomi jazz club--1 hr wait in 90 degree weather at 6pm lmao
super good tho
mentaiko cream udon, tobiko tuna avo salad
u can skip the salad lol we were just craving salad
mentako cream pasta was great tho, not too salty
okonomiyaki was also perfectly crispy and saucy
their uji matcha umeshu was soooooooooooooooooo good tho like incredible
rly liked their omurice demiglace, had bits of braised meat in it. wish the rice wasnt just plain ketchup rice w some sausages thrown in lol wlda liked some more stuff going on, but i thought this was rly solid... i think better than bar moga just cause of the meat bits in the demiglace
lastly, matcha ice cream honey toast
this was a slay i rly liked it
ceremonia bakeshop
pandan coconut mochi cake -- meh, i think win son bakerys mochi donuts are way better
not much pandan flavor

chorizo brekky burrito. worth the hype, these are super yummy and not too salty. tomatillo salsa is defs homemade. will note they stop serving these an hr or more before they close, so go earlier
swedish fish made in house from bonbon
honestly rly good, they give u free samples its super fruity but rl fruit and kinda tart but not crazy sweet

burrito from flip sigi--didnt like this. too salty and too much meat without anything to balance. kinda greasy too

ice cream sundae from caleta, this was the toasted milk w puffed rice and caramel shards. i wish it tasted more asian lol it was cool tho. their ice cream melts rly fast i will say. ive gotten pints from them (bad habits ice cream) but i think since i just eat a few spoons of ice cream and immediately throw it b ack into fridge i never noticed
i will also note their matcha is trash
sundaes and cones or cha an or matcha cafe maiko all do matcha ice cream better
i know their choco is great tho, super rich and dark

SEY coffee, i rly like the coffee in a chawan and i like the tonic water they give u on the side. v good
will say their mocha is very very unsweetened and they use great chocolate but its dark chocolate so if u want something sweet u will need to add sugar

santa ana deli and grocery-- their outdoor space is actually the cutest vibes lol and theyre rly sweet ppl. i will say tho the lady is rly bad at using a calculator so if u go in person make sure to check her math. they are also kinda slow
got one of their tacos arabes (the precursor to tacos al pastor) and it was soooo good. sweet, well charred ,rly flavorful and not dry.
also got their burrito santanero
which was tasty but the tacos arabes >>
dunya cafe for afghan/uzbek food
lamb shank was tasty, got a lot of bone marrow in it.
rice was fine i think
sauces were mid
not the best afghan food, but not too rich or anything, it was surprisingly not heavy. lamb was flavorful, just wish they gave u more of the sauce that comes w it and the rice was better
firni was good, not too sweet but rly fragrant
tea was rly cardamomy too
baked argentinian empanadas from criollas

malbec beef was rly juicy, liked it a lot. was super moist, so the pastry got a lil soggy but its ok. the fugazzeta one was very mid--no onion, no carmelization, just unmelted cheese. and chicken was flavorful (a little too sweet) but the beef was defs better.

apous taste for taiwanese food
the taiwanese style milk tea i actually enjoyed
the noodle soup was tasty, noodles had good bounce, not too salty tasted v homemade, rly enjoyed it
walked the entirety of manhattan yesterday
taqueria sinaloense
left to right:
taco de canasta, taco gobernador, taco sinaloense style (chicken, chorizo, carnitas)
the tacos de canasta were super good--cheesy, filled w well charred and v flavorful chorizo. tortilla was slightly crispy, they hit
the taco gobernador was kinda mid. i think its meant to b rly cheesy on a hard shell taco but it was not cheesy and on soft tortilla, and the shrimps felt frozen and pre cooked
the taco sinaloense style was ok
the tacos de canasta we got 2 more of tho they were rly yummy
and their salsa rojas was super good

hit zabars

their nova is rly good and fatty tasting, not that salty, just rly melt in ur mouth
but they forgot my tomatoes and were kinda stingy w the cream cheese and toppings
bagel felt a lil stale and tough
so get the lox skip the accoutrements and make ur own bagel sando at home

these were garbage
their reg brownie (unpictured) was the single worst brownie ive ever had in all my life. blondie was ok but ive never had a blondie before so nothing to compare to, just was at least good w some milk
finally, wht i cooked
instagram.com/p/CufgqtlOyW-/?img_index=1
recipe via
i used burrata wich was a lil too melty for this recipe lol still tasted rly good tho
instagram.com/p/CvXvxbdJV7A

instagram.com/p/Cp0fI-Ctab8
this is fire
i will note
275 for 3-4 hours my pork was still bloody in the middle and tough on the outside.
i ended up chucking it into the slowcooker for 8 more hours flipping half way thru and it was perfect at the end. i think my pork shoulder was significantly bigger than his lol.... cld not fit into my dutch oven i had to put it into a bigger cooking vessel and even then it was a lil big
it fit into my slowcooker barely lol. mine was 10lb
i also think my oranges were double the size of his or something same w my garlics. idk breh. the oil u get at the end thats at the top is sooo flavorful tho... i toasted some of the tortillas in a little dab of it and added a little to fry the onions for the beans. super good
shortcut kongguksu
instagram.com/p/CtJiclPNWxq
never had kongguksu before and garsh this is bland im so sorry
i think part of the issue is that my kimchi is garbage white ppl whole foods kimchi lmao
i ended up adding sesame oil and dashi powder 2/3 of the way thru but apparently thats super sacrilegious π o well
those Argentinian empanadas look crazy
