itโs u on a plate
My first reaction was before it hit me
you clever dawg

lmfao
Word you got some familiarity
And yeah makes sense why your plate is so light now
And I'm just a berbere fiend, my favorite spice ever
Would make my mom so mad because I'd eat berbere by itself regularly
But even that bias aside I think it's fr good to have it on the side to touch the occasional bite
hes gonna say shiro wot
Dinich (potatoes) always a must, there will be a few different options though
Shiro fresh out the pot
You're probably not going to see this as a side but having some lettuce tomatoes and jalapenos on the side will go crazy with basically everything
^That + some fresh shiro
Would also be insane with some berbere and that style of lamb you had
Some style of lentils and collard greens too and that's a good basic foundation that you can build off of from there

ninetynin.e did another popup this weekend :)
left 2 right
banana milk tres leches (soooo good this was the 1)
persimmion basque cheese cake (my least fave but still good, i just prefer my basque cheese cakes to b a little less set and wish there was like quadruple the persimmon s*** bc i rly liked the topping)
hidden rose apple mousse cake i liked the apple jelly a lot, was yum
citrus and cream mochi filled w a tiny ass clementine, citrus curd, little cake trimmings. rly yummy, mochi was chewy, good texture
ate our cakes at kopitiam w their cham :)
from lucie choco cake..... i got a slice before and posted it but its basically like.... just a chocolate cake lol.
this is imo equiv if not better: thestayathomechef.com/the-most-amazing-chocolate-cake
its still good but i just fl like w the hype ud imagine it to literally change ur life
tried this coffeeshop from the okonimi/yuji ramen/okonomi market/okozushi ppl: as you like
hoji kuromitsu latte w a financier. they dont bake their goods, idk where they get them from but a few cafes get the same exact financiers lol--like le phin gets the exact one. if ur looking for a cafe w homemade baked goods and food in that area brooklyn ball factory is really lovely. that being said, the hoji latte frm as u like was perfect, and their seatings actually really cozy and not packed. we got seats w/o issue

we got the
everything was quite oily, but still quite yummy.
i am honestly scared to get cumin lamb out bc a lot of it is rly mid, but theirs was rly good (and rly oily)
their mapo tofu was good -- honestly if u dont think 2 hard u dont notice the fact theres no meat in it
and the pork special was rly yummy.
the eggplant is stupid spicy tho for 0000 reason it was crazy. overall significantly better than nemesis imo
was preparing to hate but went w a ton of abc/chinese ppl and we all were vibing. u just have 2 accept the oiliness
found this weird new kiwi varietal --red kiwis. not sour at all
kopitiam-- nyonya bak zhang. basically zongzi filled w minced pork w distinctive malay notes when paired w side sauce. i prefer shanghai style zongzi, but this was rly nice
golden diner again--katsu club, kfc, and their "monte cristo" special. not a monte cristo at all, but so good. basically just biscuits and gravy--a scallion biscuit w ham on it and gravy lol. note that their brunch is consistently an hr wait these days w no ability to res or call ahead, but dreamers and koptiam are both good coffee shops to wait at
and theres also this random ass chinatown mall w an upstairs that has the only nyc eckhaus latta store and random vintage stores/boutiques/micro art galleries right by there.
if u stand at the building looking lost and young enough the old chinese ppl will point u to the entrance
sami and susu
rly small spot but nice ambiance. we got the lamb kebab on roti (honestly it was aight. online images show lamb chunks but the one we got was ground, which is fine). roti was super buttery, but ill be honest... i asked for it to be refired bc it was only cooked on one side at first.... like raw dough on the other side :')
but after the second toasting it was better but ... ill be honest still raw in one spot
roman gnocchi w 15 hr lamb neck ragu this was incredible 11/10. only wish there was more
muhammara w pita--was really good, no complaints. rly soft yummy pita
overall... sort of hit or miss. i will also note their menu is tiny and kitchen is crazy small. wanted their beef tongue or schnitzel (their best known dishes) but their menu had neither. good wine selection. no food specials, their menu online is what they got

sunrise mart pork shogayaki -- garbage. no ginger flavor, way 2 salty, dry as f***
ramen by ra
new ramen stand at bowery market. wasnt 100% sold on it at first, but ill be honest, it was really good. she makes everything by herself--the chili oil, the ramen eggs, the broth, etc so its quite labor intensive. thus she does chicken shoyu broth only but treated with different oils she makes --tomato oil / paste for the blt ramen, lard for the bec ramen, etc. the steak and egg is topped w chimichurri and steak, blt has a roasted tomato and thickass steak house style bacon, bec has the same bacon but w parm. she has a few more flavors we didnt try (the gravlox one w cream cheese being the weirdest i think) and does specials once in a while. broth was a bit salty, but still really light and enjoyable, kinda similar to ivan ramen i think. the steak and egg i think was the winner--the garlic in the chimichurri rly hit. i will note u need to preorder and prepay. for instance, i wanted a ramen egg after i got there but she simply didnt make any extras for the day
finally, tried ivorian food at sylla and it was genuinely incred
got the red snapper braise, sauce arachide (peanut butter stew) w foutou on the side (pounded plantain), ivorian jollof rice w lamb chunks, and the alloco (fried sweet plaintian)
the jollof rice was rly good--not particularly tomatoey, but sweet and buttery. the texture was nicely fried and chewy. not too salty, was rly nice.
bf stanned the snapper, i loved the sauce arachide w foutou. honestly foutou >>>>> fufu, its has a nice sweetness and i cld eat it plain. the hot sauce was also rly yummy. fried plaintains were perfectly sweet and crispy, not drenched in oil. just good
cooked to order, so bit of a wait for the food to come out but worth
thecginger drink was crazy fire. wanted to try the other drink they make as well but they were out
caesar salad, all homemade
