    dashi okume was doing an oden omakase thing for march
    oden wise, was equiv to yopparai's oden in terms of being like.... bougee ass f***ing oden lol (but v good)






    my best attept at recollecting:
    1. pickled horse mackerel sashimi from toyosu market w pickles
    2. simmered 5 hr daikon (so good), green stuff is shungiku (i f***ing hate shungiku, its a rly healthy tasting herb), egg, homemade fishcake
    3. burdock root top left, shiitake mushroom, lotus root, taro, fu/wheat gluten balls (japanesetaste.com/products/miyamura-shibata-fu-japanese-dried-wheat-gluten-10-pcs look at this for an idea of texture maybe?? its rly soft/squishy/spongy. its in chinese cooking too, ppl stuff it w ground pork n simmer it, its what i always imagine the spirited away dad eats when he eats that blobby thing. some variety of it is seitan but seitan sucks n this doesnt), then a shrimp fish cake in the middle
    4. another shrimp fishcake
    5. ochazuke
    6. i forget but like.... green grape sorbet or something like that
    i liked it but wldnt do it again, but i did like that it was fully pescatarian n therefore halal

    lastly
    karszma -- polish
    pierogi -- the dough wrapper was kinda thick n it was light on toppings, but the filling was tasty.

    beer braised ham hock--rly salty tbh

    grill plate for 2 w kielbasa, pork sausage (super unqiue, way more soft n mushy than any other blood sausage ive had + more heavily spiced), pork shoulder, chicken, salmon, bacon. salmon n chicken werent good (2 dry) but we killed the other stuff. in the back is hunters stew cooked w red wine (just a lot of cabbage n some pork)

    i liked it more than polish/ukrainain/russian red borscht, but homemade chinese borscht is >>>>>>>>>
    it was p unique but rly creamy and still had a borscht tang/sweetness. no beets tho. lots of kielbasa chunks inside
    overall my fave thing was the mashed potatoes (they have fantastic mashed potatoes that come w the borscht) and the borcht.
    i think overall it was reallllllly salty and heavy
    id probs do just the borscht

    or just like a cabbage roll next time
    these plates are hella hefty
    we had crazy leftovers

    99 cakes came out w another hit

    banana milk purin
    strawb n something something makgeolli
    dry persimmon (hoshigaki) + walnut warm torte
    rice cereal palova
    the warm torte was saur good
    luved the banan milk purin 2
    not a fan of the pavlova but i just dont like pavlova at all
    i like korean cereal as a topping a lot tho
    theres this bar called reunion that has a drinky w it n its rly good (dessert cocktail side of things but its not sweet sweet)


    hit this coffee shop i saw on ig reels that looked good
    xoco-latte
    ill b honest
    the drinks r good (mexican hot choccy/mochas)
    but the concha was dry as f***
    soooo frickin dry
    mayb if u go early, but it felt so dry it had to have been 2 days old tbh
    the ppl are really nice n welcoming, great hospitality
    but the dry ass dusty ass concha rly had me sooo disappointed
    the do other stuff 2 like concha muffins/manteconcha


    hoji panna cotta from brooklyn ball factory
    ive liked every single thing ive tried here tbh
    the bentos arent outta the world but solid, the miso soups one of the best in ny for sure tho (more like tonjiru)
    this panna cotta is incredib
    so good
    not a panna cotta girl
    this is honestly more purin than panna cotta flavorwise


    bought me this cheese coin from speedy korean grill -- new food court thing in ktown w a make ur own instant ramyun thing upstairs n yadda yadda

    i got cheese corn
    p mid
    just a mid taiyaki w cheese n corn inside.....
    i only like ice cream taiyakis so this was like v ok 2 me
    the taiyaki itself wasnt like peak taiyaki either



    hmart chestnut bread--
    honestly so disappointed!! me n bf didnt like these
    the outside is cocoa powder crusted like dry shell (not crispy, just dry)
    the then its mochi...
    then its bean paste and chestnut chunks
    but the cocoa doesnt go w the paste
    n the paste is 2 sweet
    and then the external texture is v whatever
    it just didnt rly like
    make sense to me as a single unit food item
    pick either mochi + filling
    or mochi + cocoa powder
    both + the weird dry outside is 2 much conflict

    but i think the base was bourbon
    and the bourbon overpowered it such that i never rly at any point was like ah yes this is the pistachio cream i taste

    Diner style restaurant - was pretty solid! I would say that burger was like 8/10 and the grilled cheese that my girl ordered was delish as well

    Oh!! A tik tok food guy (@​mubereats) i follow recs lalibela and benyam

    To keep it a buck idk if ill ever make it to tjose spots
    Bc i like bunna cafe a lot and its walkable tor me, while those are just soooo far from me
    And i have a lot of other spots on my harlem list for foods i cant get near me

    I also have to disclaim that im p sure ive liked every ethiopian/eritrean spot ive ever tried so idk if
    a. all the spots happened to b good
    b. I just dont have the experience to tell bad vs good ethiopian/eritrean
    c. All ethiopian/eritrean just slaps

    I do think that bunna and ras are my faves tho
