Yea there's always a imbalance a sort of dynamic where one person is getting more out of the relationship than the other. Over time this can get pretty bad. Growing up here there was more community.
I lived in East NY around mad Caribbeans so the black and brown presence was strong, mad Jamaicans and Puerto Ricans mobbing to pizza shops and s*** like it was nothing.

One of my neighbors was some old Greek immigrant in his 60s that used to grow vegetables and s*** in his yard and deadass give ‘em to the people in our neighborhood just to help niggas save on groceries lol

Post college, after living in east ny, moving to harlem after lease i will say I definitely miss the sense of…its always something to do outside thats a stones throw away from me. Crown heights being in walking distance meant a lot than i even realized when i used to live there

Word. It's much less isolating in the South. I've helped my neighbor (old white woman) set up her Roku and s***. She gives me her left over lasagna and watermelon (might be racial, lol). Not conversing or acknowledging your neighbors seems so foreign to me.
