Watched the Netflix documentary and revisited this song last night. Such an amazing song.
Literally goosebumps.
Getting this level of celebrity together at their prime for one night after the AMAs was truly amazing.
No egos, Just coming together for a great cause.
What are your thoughts on this song?
always hated these old charity singles, but at least it isn’t “don’t they know it’s christmas” where it was borderline doing the opposite and even more patronising and insulting
these artists were filthy rich, they could’ve put some of their sum into the cause rather than asking for money

"The total fundraising amount that USA For Africa had earned for "We Are The World" was $63 million in 1986, which today would equal roughly $227 million adjusting for inflation. This sum was reached in part by the record sales of both the single and the eventual "We Are The World" album"
Thanks for your input though.
Have a blessed day.
Cyndi Lauper taking off her jewelry and putting it in a small pile so it wouldn't cling while she's recording her part for a charity song is the most unintentionally tonedeaf celebrity moment probably of all time

She was coming directly from an award show
Damn y'all are so cynical
Can you just enjoy the song and the cause?
I remember I spent a week looking into us for africa and I saw they did a documentary on it so ima watch it. that rolling stone profile about the whole thing is amazing too.
the story is all in all a huge vanity fair but im p sure some artists had good intentions in mind. and it was endearing to see Bob Dylan pushing through and giving a memorable performance considering where he was at career-wise by that time
