Was 28 with his two debut albums in 98 and 29 in 99 with his follow up then there was x
Never heard of this being mentioned tbh
Anyways rip to the goat
Yeah, DMX was in a creative zone in 1998, dropped two classic albums that year. And dropped another really good one the following year.
R.I.P to Dark Man X.
Shout out to You're new vid on YouTube about DMX that gave this information to me

This should be a testament that it’s never too late to get big and have a career in rap.

Not even that old.
Not even that old.
It’s not. But since then who has released a notable debut album older than them? I’m sure there’s some but I can’t think of any at the moment.
Yup, X was rappin for a minute and tryna get on. He was hood famous according to the Lox. He came in the game at the right time, brought it back to the streets. F***in legend!
Ok but jay z has longevity and is more relevant than X
Way better music too
Way worse as well

who gives a f*** lol I just don't understand why people care about this dumb s***
no disrespect to you, js
Not even that old.
I agree, but its "old" when compared to the last 10 years or so. DaBaby (28) and Cardi B (26) are the only ones that come to mind.
ye was like 26/27
yea still pretty late for todays standard.
but back then being 25+ was sort of the norm for new rappers.
Felt like rappers had more life experience before their debut which gave them that storytelling/hero’s journey effect.
I cant say we need that today because I honestly think rap is dead but if it should survive, hip hop cultures need to be more receptive to older debut rappers. at the very least 24/25 at debut
@muse do any of these guys have an album as good as Vultures 2?

yes both of them. reasonable doubt, the blueprint, it's dark and hell is hot, and then there was x all clear vultures 2 by about forty miles. the bar here is an album kanye forgot to finish mixing

X was literally bigger than Jay Z with his first 4 albums
And he's dead
No s***

@op
Yeah it's actually crazy how "old" most artists were outside of pop and pop rock type of things
And most of it was lied about or wouldn't be brought attention too
But we fully in the information age now and lot of it is easy to find plus more ppl talm bout stories
It's why ppl like Pac or Nas get big ups for their age too since always, even tho the industry used to want u to believe most artists are young
And in the 2000s they tried to exploit age the most (and tried to sign actual younger ppl the most in the 2000s for an easy contract lock layup from their naivety) and where the stereotype the anyone under 25 is "too old"
Part of the 2010s fans like with sales (which sales also became a "big deal" in the forefront in the 2000s) also ran with the false ageism, but luckily 2nd half of the 2010s and especially now in the 2020s dgaf again - if it's good to them then it's good to them, just don't look foolish if u are older cuz the only thing older ppl really get judged on today is how they act
