Toxic but true, numbers kinda show how good an album is
It shows popularity nothing else. Trump is popular, doesn't make him a good politician. It's hollow rhetoric.

Not quite. It shows how an album does in comparison to other albums. So lets say an album gets crazy streams but has bad growth (la fuerza if you wanna check it out on the site). You can see the growth stagnation and realize even though it got a lot of streams people stopped listening after the first week
Weeknd fans still in shambles, mentioning sales or streaming gives them ptsd.

How is this post saying anything different from the post you're replying to? What you're describing is popularity

Yeaaaa.

Hear me out. Pushin P sucks as a song. It peaked in streaming the first three weeks. After it has fallen off the charts. Its not so much the total streams that determine how good an album is but it is the total growth from day of release to current day

I guess not educate me lmaooooooo
pocket watching for sureeeeeee
Curating as well.
Are you going to include podcasting?

U cant measure an abstract idea like quality, its different from quantity, streams only count the amount of times a computer pressed play on a mp3 file
Does a song become higher quality if i get a stream farm to bot the s*** out of it?

potentially. Next step is to focus on growth statistics and send out alerts for quickly growing songs and albums. Podcasting maybe but really wanna focus on the music first. The lifecycle of albums and songs really fascinates me

So fair. It costs money to get stream bots though so after you stop the drop will be apparent. Im really just trying to measure how albums perform from a grwoth metric and try to identify songs / albums when they are blowing up

Thats cool just saying streams dont show the quality

For sure total streams now way show quality. Hear me out on this though. If you can measure how streams grow per day you can measure quality. Take on album that has a lot of initial streams and then falls off because people stop listening. Take another album that has lower initial streams but has a really high growth rate. The second album could be argued to be better since the music is lasting for longer idk if that makes sense

That sounds pretty cool. I’ve never looked at albums as having a lifecycle until now but yea that’s totally true.
The layout is easy and digestible.
Similar to the stock market, will there be a 5yr, 1yr etc. trending?

Yup but intervals will be shortened. Thinking about capping data capture after a year of the album being released. Gonna send out alerts if growth shoots up 50% on a day or something. Like if yeat album comes out and then drake posts about it on his story a week later you will be able to see that huge surge

I see what ur saying but popularity isnt an indicator of quality to me personally, or by the definition of the words
But if that helps decide what u wanna listen to go ahead man
