checked out 7 of this week's albums so far, got like 7+ more to go
any favorites so far?
this was a great week
and new future and nia archives coming the next one, im eating yet again
then pnd4 right after and lone gonna hopefully drop LLF sometime this month
i might not even deserve all this what a month this is
Khruangbin- they just can’t miss. They do it every time. Nothing crazy. Nothing lazy. Just pure chilled guitars and those incredibly tight drums
8/10
Devin Morrison - feels like KTT is sleeping heavy on this man. 5 years after his debut Bussin he releases this short EP, but it’s amazing. The chord progressions catch you off guard and his voice floats effortlessly over his beautiful production. Bussin felt like a callback to 80’s/90’s R&B but DreamSoul Ballads feels like it’s his own creation this time. I can assure you there isn’t much R&B out there made quite like this
10/10
J. Cole - not the biggest Cole fan but I have this a good listen. Despite a few corny lines I felt this was one of his strongest projects. Maybe it’s cuz I feel like when Cole tackles a concept it comes out a mess and this one didn’t exactly have a theme other than this recent beef. His flows were nice af and the beat selection was pretty good.
7.5/10
Glorilla - I love her overall style. Her voice makes her unique as a female rapper, she sounds tough. And I love her Memphis drawl, saying words like “refuse” with that signature “R” after the “U”. REFYURSE. The beats go pretty hard too. I mean they have to for Memphis beats right. With Glo u know what ur gonna get but she still delivers.
7.5/10
Tisakorean - probably my most disappointing release this week. I love his silliness. His unique style. And while I did really f*** with a few songs: S*** Talk, Exactly, Let Me Hear You Scream…I think the project didn’t land well. Most of the other songs on here have this slightly different sound he’s going for, like that late 00’s early 10’s pop sound. It’s interesting but didn’t hit me the way I wanted.
5/10
Bryson Tiller - played this yesterday for the first time. It was really good actually. I think it’s better than TTS. His singing always captivates me, I never understood the hate he got in that regard. And the production was great. A nice comeback album from Tiller, but at the same time nothing made crazy noise to warrant a REAL comeback. Nonetheless it’s a very solid project.
