I'm perplexed as to why I'm not seeing more threads talking about that INCREDIBLE half-time show by The Weeknd! How did you guys like it? I loved it! Abel's voice was immaculate the entire time. I also loved that upbeat HOB but wish it was longer! Your guys' thoughts?
We were talking about it livein the other thread but:
Loved the bandaged dancers, think he proved to anyone who for whatever reason still doubted his vocal capabilities that he can SING
Plus I’ve never seen a performer scatter the whole field with no stage or anything like he did at the end with the dancers, that was super cool
I really liked the visuals, as well as the stages they made. I think the only thing I didn't like was how super fast paced every song was, it felt like most songs were so short they didn't have time to develop. Song selection was pretty solid too.

It was solid for the audience. I like his traditional songs, including KL, Trilogy and songs like Faith, After Hours and basically all of his darker, impossible-to-be-mainstream songs. Unfortunately those can't be played on a Superbowl stage hahaha
Feel like if he did some cardio his vocals would be fire and he would be able to run around while singing and still sound amazing
Guy is a great vocalist but as soon as he starts running around he sounds like he’s winded or something
It was a good show though based on first impressions
It was something completely different, more cinematic, and had a narrative to it. And he also managed to tie in the flashy choreography and a good production set that's expected at every Halftime. Vocals were on point too... This show exceeded my expectations.
I know I'm a fan but I can't imagine anyone NOT liking this halftime lol. Maybe the setlist could of been different tho
very awesome imo visually dope
wish they turned up his mic a bit more couldn't really hear him.
other than that he did his thing.

mic is fine on youtube
Everyone should rewatch on YouTube again tbh the mic levels were fixed
Visually stunning, I loved it
I thought it was good and I took the stan glasses off.. I still felt it was fun. There was a time he couldn't perform at all. Each album he is getting better. The HOB transition into Blinding Lights was so good. As an OG fan I couldn't help but smile at that.
I think some wanted more dance numbers etc, but I know not to expect that when I watch Abel. He's never been everyone cup of tea too, so what can you do? lol
How did this fit in the story?
Abel seemed to make it clear today in his interview that he’s not gonna tell us, so it’s up to you to decide.

What show were you watching? His vocals were IMMACULATE the entire time! Also he lost like 30 lbs since the Starboy days, he's def in shape man

Unfortunately the set list had to be that bc of the audience and how mainstream the millions watching him are. Plus most of his songs are too explicit to perform live. Imagine we got Often or Or Nah live 😅

Yeah, ppl want a Gaga-dance performance and while I'm a huge Gaga fan, Abel has never been about that. He wants ppl to come to the show for his voice and I respect that! It's a bummer many folks stayed petty because I was hoping we'd gain new fans tonight. Oh well. It was a brilliant show and XO's present for supporting Abel like we have - esp the HOB transition to BL, like you said haha. I am selfish and wanted to hear Faith and Heartless live, but that's why he did the Vevo performance and came out with Heartless on the Colbert show. (Also The Morning would have been badass but I'll just wait for the AH Tour when I have my third row seats!) He's really kicked ass this era, damn haha
I’m on my overnight shifts so I had just woken up when he performed I was a little out of it but that s*** was awesome. Loved it tbh when HOB started I was like
Performance was gas. I Don't listen to much Weeknd but I downloaded plenty songs after the performance. The Hills been in my head since the performance ended. Best show since Beyonce 2012 for me.
Audio was bash though. But I enjoyed nonetheless. A good meme came out of it, too. I liked that whole close face section in general.
Obviously, I'm posting in this section for the first time (including in non-SB related threads), so that speaks to the success of the show.
