Was gonna post in the main Donda thread, but I wanted to get people overall thoughts of what we heard from that song off the Apple livestream. Genuinely this is one the most emotional songs I’ve heard from Kanye in a long long time, I wouldn’t even consider it mumbling, it’s more raw emotion he’s literally pouring his heart out.
While Donda repeats the lines “No matter what you never abandon your family”
Even the part when Kanye goes “My family, that's all me, I wish I never screamed, Alcohol is all we need, These things, these things, these things,
Things I never mean.
I honestly can’t wait to hear the finished version, although this will probably be the most difficult song to listen too. As soon as I hear it makes me feel emotional
I wouldn’t mind if the finished song has a lot of the mumbling in it. It makes sense for the lyrics to be incoherent given the subject matter of the song. It feels like a breakdown. Similar to the outro on Runaway.
But yeah, definitely a standout moment on the album.
its beautiful (would be better with a verse) but i get the whole point of it is like an 'outpouring of emotion' type of vibe so maybe a verse isnt needed
i think it should be the final (or one of final) songs on the album though
Daddy, why did you leave?
Daddy, how could you leave?
Come back tonight, baby
Come back tonight, daddy, please
Daddy, how could you leave?
Daddy, how could you leave?
I wish I never screamed
hits really hard each time. this, praise god and pure souls better be on the final album.
s*** gets me so f***ed up everytime
s*** really might hit top 3 ye immediately pon release
It’s such a beautiful song, but so heartbreaking at the same time theeeeeseee things, theeeeessse things, these things, these things, these things, things I never mean, come and love…. Come and love me
My god Kanye 😢😢😢
s*** gets me so f***ed up everytime
s*** really might hit top 3 ye immediately pon release

pretty sure he says "alcohol is on me" as in he's been drinking. why would he say its all we need
might be top 10 ye though
conceptually it's just a wildly cool song
he's singing about his past and his present and during the donda part her vocals are both about her situation/the lessons she wishes to impart by reciting, and also to kanye her vocals are reminding him of his divorce and seeming departure from the family he made (not in a complete abandonment sense obviously, but i don't believe he sees the kids as much as he used to)
i really love it. cuts very deep
and that part where donda/ye are going at the same time just sounds crazy
BTW this is not Welcome To My Life, that is a different unheard song featuring Ty Dolla Sign. The dude who went to Vegas didn't know the name of this song and got confused.
Hope that what bu said means it could be coming out, really great track, just needs a bit of polish but it's a very deep cut to not be included in a future update of donda
