i think you're too pressed on the illmatic comparison, but i cant fault that it's a pretty big exaggeration. idk if he said it because he had one producer for the whole album.

there are a lot of songs that do delve into the topics of drill music, you haven't heard the whole thing yourself so you shouldn't get all upset about it. on faux nem is a very straightforward song that directly talks about the violence relating to it

all that aside its a decent album for lupe, it isn't as complex or deep as ty or wave but you should enjoy it for what it is, a good cohesive lupe album that doesn't sound rushed at all which is why people are so impressed.

autoboto kinda eh though even he said he made it so people wouldn't get bored, but everything else is pretty great

just curious (no hate or anything). how do you find new music? just wondering because the album thread on here was near the top for a couple weeks, a lot of the big hip hop people on twitter were hyping it up, all the hip hop blogs were talking about it, he did interviews on hot97, etc, and it was the only big release out that day so it was near the top of "new releases" sections on streaming. his marketing sucks these days, but I feel like it was still tough to miss for people that pay attention to hip hop

Im not as tapped in as I used to be so I really only find out abt new music on here or if I happen to check the Apple Music new releases section once in a while

And I admit my brain usually skims over the threads pinned at the top of this sxn, which certainly isn’t Lupe’s fault; by your telling he seems to have done a fair bit of press and gotten a good amount of hype considering he Isn’t an industry darling

But it’s true that if I happened to be busy the week that it came out and didn’t see any of the threads about the album or his press run, by the next week the collective attention span of this sxn would have moved on to something else, and i would have missed it entirely if not for this thread and I like lupe a lot, always will check out his new albums
