From a selfish non US fan POV im annoyed at the move just because we don’t have access to listen live (without VPNs and s***)

The Apple x OVO partnership was legendary. But I understand they have more time and freedom at Sirius probably with the whole channel to do what they want.

Hopefully besides a nice initial cheque the Sirius deal feels legendary over time.

I don't think Drake and his team saw it that way.

The Apple Music OVO Sound Radio days were legendary but things have changed since then. Apple Music/Beats 1 has more reach, of course, but it was very restrictive in terms of the time slots. They could only do 1 show per week. They don't have that issue with SiriusXM. With their own dedicated channel, they have a lot more freedom with SiriusXM than they ever did with Beats1/Apple Music and for what they were going for, it simply made more sense, especially since they also they got offered a bigger bag. Now they can fit in as many programs as they want throughout the day/week. That kind of freedom is very appealing and simply something Apple Music/Beats 1 couldn't offer.

Apple Music played themselves letting Drake go because now none of their radio shows have any kind of impact anymore. It's very obvious that OVO Sound Radio was the one carrying their entire celebrity radio station slate now that they've gone.

Drake and his team are probably better with the new arrangement now and that's really all that matters. It also sucks for me because I'm not based in the US and can't stream the episodes as a result but for any good episodes, I can always just listen back when they upload it on SoundCloud so I'm good either way.

I doubt he'll ever do that. There really isn't any need for him to premiere songs or albums on OVO Sound Radio now that it's on SiriusXM. If anything, maybe OVO Sound artists and other artists will do continue to do that and it gets bigger on SiriusXM.

It was so dope the way all the UK / world artist would get excited when there songs get play on OVOSound. Not quite the same feeling. Not a big moment on Twitter etc either

I don’t think it was about the bag but more about creative freedom. Sound 42 currently has 4 programs (OSR, HLV, FYF, MJR), a 24 hour channel and more to be announced. Obviously Apple is a bigger platform but with that comes less timeslots available

Drake basically has 24 hours of radio airplay time to do whatever he wants. They could do a podcast if they wanted and allocate a time slot for it. The possibilities are endless. It makes total sense that they'd to with SiriusXM instead.

Wow, I didn't realize how many of you all are not US based on KTT. I mean always knew that Drake has a worldwide base. I can definitely see how the change is an inconvenience in the way you've all stated

I say yes, because more times slots being available means we get to see more content that we didn't get to previously.
I think about it like this, since all they had was the original osr timeslot and nothing else that meant that they can only fit so much into that timeslot and everything else they may have wanted to feature they couldn't, but now they can with this deal.

I was skeptical at first but overcoming the poor user experience wasn’t as bad as expected. I think this arrangement gives them the room they need to expand a universe beyond OVOSR alone. At the end of the day, the recordings are going to pop up on SoundCloud anyway. In a way, the round about user experience makes it feel like pirate radio lite hah

Didn’t Drake mention something about wanting a stake/ownership in Apple if they were gonna continue their relationship?

I think the deal just ran out and they prolly got more Ms with this. I’m sure Drake x Apple will happen again considering the history

OVO has access to hundreds of international and small artists who would never get a chance at a radio interview…. They could fill the void

I think nothing with OVO is off the table and i'm almost certain this has come up and will come up at some point.
