Literally no one is saying this. Obviously his lifestyle is way different from an average person. I'm not sure why you spun that post to such an extreme.

We may disagree, but this guy has gotten unusually bitter, corny, and immature. Dissing Meg the Stallion, Rihanna, Esperanza Spalding, Dillon Brooks. All of it is so corny and childish.

He alludes to it all the time, about how even with all these things in his life (money, fame, material items, women) he's empty inside. He never goes into this more. Instead he falls back on his mob boss persona. He alludes to not being accepted in the black community, rap community, etc. He alludes to fatherhood. He alludes to always looking for love, but never finding it, but instead blames the woman for it.

The guy talks about deeper, mature things at such a surface level, but never goes into it.

Mature topics doesn't mean talking about paintings, or stocks, etc. He can literally discuss the same things he brings up in his music now, but go into it deeper than the surface level stuff that may have been interesting 10+ years ago when his core fanbase was younger. This would be super hard for himself, because he would have to be honest with himself and be fully vulnerable, which he hasn't done in such a long time.

Again we can agree to disagree.

Drake has said way worse things on songs on past albums that y'all didn't care this much about or harp on about. Drake finally addresses the f***shit and y'all twist it to mean he's jealous Serena moved on. So, you mean, he magically waited for 5 years after she'd gotten married and had a kid and just woke up one day and decided to talk s*** about her husband for no good reason?

That's another thing y'all do with him. You never even ask: WHY is this guy doing this? Is there any backstory there? Could something have happened to make him do this? Songs like Slime You Out, Bahamas Promises, Tried Our Best, Drew a Picasso, All the Parties, Away from Home, Polar Opposites, Red Button The Shoe Fits, Wick Man and others have him rapping and singing about real s*** but y'all just don't care to listen to it anymore because apparently, him rapping/singing about his actual life and actual things going on in it is now stale and immature. He can't help anyone who feels that way. All he can do is do what he can do.

The criticisms about Drake have never been fair. The same older Drake music you're praising now as being more mature was also harshly criticized for other reasons in the past but now, it's magically the best music in the world because the Drake critiques have to find a way to endure.

The people who can't find any more usefulness in Drake's music can always stick to the older Drake music they feel is so much better or stop listening to him altogether. He'll be just fine. The people who still f*** with his music will support him and that'll have to suffice. All this back and forth about what he isn't doing right is tiring and a complete waste of time for everybody.

1) Just because Eminem does something does not mean it's not corny. Eminem is the epitome of corny. For like a decade+ people have talked about how Eminem sucks.

You keep saying but such and such did it. It doesn't mean it's not corny or immature just because someone else did it.

2) Where on Fear of Heights did he say I am going at you because you went at me? Where did he say she was talking about him behind the scenes?

He literally released Scary Hours 3 because he was so sensitive about what Joe Budden said about FATD.

3) I don't know what to tell you about the Esperanza Spalding line if you don't think that's not a diss. He literally said who cares she gets all the grammy's/praises. No one's heard of her. How is this not a diss? Imagine being an artist and another person saying, yea who cares about your accolades, no one really listens to your music.

Drake has always been so sensitive about the grammys. He always pretends like he doesn't care, but it's clear it bothers him to the core. That's fine. But why take a shot at a random artist.

4) The examples of songs you used to show Drake rapping about "real things" are terrible examples, and actually show what I am talking about:
1) Slime You Out: I really enjoy this song. But the content and words are ridiculously immature and corny. He is crying about how this girl left him for a "lesser man" who can't put her up in fancy hotels like he can. How he can wire her money and put her on a payment plan even after she is dead, and pay her rent. So literally to Drake, he's saying wild you didn't choose me even though I have all this money. I gave you all these material things yet you still aren't with me. He's acting like this girl is a possession/women are a possession

2) Tried Our Best: Talking about blue bubbles blowing up his phone, being in the club with her gay friends. Once again I enjoy the song, but to act like this is "real stuff" is wild to me. He is almost 40 talking about blue bubbles

3) Drew a Picasso: Once again, same stuff as slime you out. Can't believe she chose "that" guy over me. Don't make me pull out that money to show you how much of a man I am. Can't believe you're with that athlete, he didn't score. How is any of this not corny and "real stuff" you were talking about?

4) The Shoe Fits: You can't be serious right now. He's literally talking about IG women. How in the world did you use this as an example of Drake making music where he's talking about "real things"

I'm not sure how one can listen to Drake's music and say he is progressing in his subject matter or how he tackles his subject matter. No one is saying Drake can't make club anthems, fun music, or something with little substance. However, when an overall body of work is filled with this type of stuff, especially when you are 15 years into your rap career and almost 40, of course he will get criticised.

And you say, Drake shouldn't get critiqued if others aren't getting critiqued. You are clearly a huge fan of Drake, so why do you not hold him to a higher standard. He clearly wants to be the top dog. He clearly wants to be known as one of the greatest rappers of all time. Of course there is a higher standard for him. Furthermore, his peers, like Kendrick, actually try to make meaningful music, deeper music, personal music, or beyond surface level music (however you want to describe it). Mr Morale was a deeply personal album. It was a unique way to take a listener through his journey of trying to become a better person.

Am I saying he should rap like Kendrick. Of course not. But he can definitely talk about the same topics he's talking about now, in a more mature, adult way, rather than constantly crying about IG models not being the one even though he spent bands on them.

You can listen to Drake's discography straight through and I'm not sure how one can say, yea this person is progressing through life and maturing. Maturing doesn't mean talking about stocks, art, or paying bills.

There's a reason he is flaming out a bit. People are tired of the same formula from him.

Well, like I said, if you feel his music isn't mature enough for you, then stop listening to him. You don't even know what "mature music" means for someone like Drake to begin with and the last thing he should be doing is listening to anyone else about the kind of music he should be making. It's very okay sticking to listening to the music by the people you feel have more mature content. You do that and the people who'll keep listening to Drake's music will keep doing that: everybody wins. See how easy that is?

This is a discussion forum. The discussion or topic was Drake "falling off" I offered my opinion as to why he isn't resonating with people as he once was. When's the last time had a legitimate hit? It feels like ages ago.

I'm not sure why you take criticism as me "hating" Drake and how I shouldn't listen to him because of it. I like Drake and his music. He's definitely my most listened to artist. That doesn't mean he's infallible. He makes fun music, but at least to me at a point he needs to grow as an artist.

And I'm not sure what you mean by I don't know what mature music is for Drake. I pointed out all the songs you listed and showed you how at the core they are so childish or they're basically rehashes of what he was saying back in 2009-2011. Which is fine. They are catchy songs. But maybe I expect more out of an artist than you.

You're taking some criticism about the guy's music so personally.

The same older Drake music you're now calling mature is the same music countless people mocked him for in the past for being too soft or too sensitive. No one never gave that music any sort of credit for being emotionally intelligent or mature for that age and that time until he got older and decided to lean into having more fun in his music. All of a sudden, all that older music has now turned into the bar he's supposed to meet at this point in his career. Do y'all even support the songs he has in his discography that lean more mature? Do y'all actually listen to those songs?

Also, who are you to decide what's real or not in/about his music? Drake makes songs about s*** going on in his life. Whether that's about him dealing with IG thots or untrustworthy women, that's his reality. Maybe you can't relate to whatever that lifestyle is but it doesn't mean he should all of a sudden stop making music that reflects that reality just to please you or whoever else shares your thoughts about his music. That music is real to him because it's true to his life and that's all that matters. As much as YOU might not relate to it, there's a whole lot of people who do.

Drake doesn't need to do anything other than what he WANTS to do. You and a bunch of other people who have become overly-critical of his music are the ones at fault because you've gone from simply enjoying his music for what it is (which is how all music should be engaged with btw) to placing demands on what you feel it should be. It's his art. It's his life. It's his career. It's his legacy. If it doesn't do it for you anymore, you can always move on. I know that I've done that with a handful of artists I used to be a huge fan of whose music stopped doing for me. I stopped listening to their new stuff while I revisit their older stuff. If they have shows in my city, I still support them by attending and copping merch so I'm still very much a fan in the ways I can still be. There's no rule that states you HAVE TO keep listening to Drake, especially when you have so many complaints about his music that most of his fanbase doesn't seem to have because they keep listening to the music.
