I think Drake’s music has changed since CLB. We got leaked or heard snippets of a bunch of records that made the album. Felt weird.
Now he is obsessed with these nonsensical beat switches and not writing full songs anymore. The closest we got to classic Drake was Middle of the Ocean & him connecting the last lines of his first verse on Family Matters to the first lines of the second verse (the second verse on Family Matters is an all time Drake performance btw). He didn’t even try to write a full first verse on his PND record on FATD. It has been weird to watch.
The person that was passionate about writing a hook, making that hook part of the verse, writing a better hook now, and caring about first/last lines of verses isn’t as consistent as he used to be and it is noticeable. I love HNM and him not writing full, focused songs is all over an album I really enjoy and listen to often. I don’t get it
Virginia Beach is a cool song, but so much of what I just described is all over that record and why Drake’s music has lost a widespread connection. Either he is too busy or coasting like he already won out as an artist, but understand, people are listening. This is why that loss of connection rings so loudly with a song like “Not Like Us.” nothing feels as connected as it used to and we never get any information as to why…
we're witnessing the biggest L in rap history
no one has ever lost a battle this badly
bigger than 50 cent vs Ja Rule

50 cent didn't make a #1 record from a diss song.
2pac didn't make a #1 record from a diss song.
This is the biggest rap battle in history, and drake lost.
I don't think you understand the magnitude of all this

I definitely don’t understand the meat riding. You’re right.
Losing a rap beef is whatever. The pedo/sex trafficking accusations is to me, the clear worst part of all this but no one in here is talking about it
I’ve been seeing so many memes and jokes casually aligning Epstein/R Kelly/Meliodas/Drake/Bill Cosby and just treating it so casually like it’s a real thing

I think you understand meat riding plenty..

Nah I don’t. I would never make an alt to defend Kendrick Lamar or Drake.

Drake already has a #1 diss song that was nominated for a Grammy or are we pretending that didn’t happen?

Song wasn’t number one. It didn’t win a Grammy. Not like Us would smoke back up back in a versus easily.

It definitely would’ve went number one if streaming was as big as it is now and I said it was nominated for a Grammy

I doubt it. Drake struggled to get solo number ones around that time. Plus the week it dropped it was in the midst of weekends “can’t feel my face, Taylor’s Bad Blood remix and See Yiou Again.
