I just can't get past Wes Anderson's style. Its gotten so overbearing with every passing film. Its self parody at this point. I guess its one of those you're either with it or not kinda thing.
this was well layered
In the theater
Will this be Wes Anderson’s first miss?
You must have missed Dispatch
"And if he did the same people would complain it’s not his right to tell their stories"
Shut the f*** up
I mean tbh he’s right
We can save the tears for people writing mean words about white peoples non diverse movies online but it does get to a point where it’s like what do y’all actually what them folks to do 🤣 they go up down right left and mfs would have a problem regardless
We should be telling niggas like Hype Williams how much their style and eye is missed in film before we beg for inclusion in the white mans joint
That being said it would be cool to see a “black” version of the Wes Anderson aesthetic but we shouldn’t beg him to do it lol

I have good news. Check out Tyler the Creator
so is wes making the father/daughter movie with michael cera and THEN the 'darker tone' espionage movie with Benecio? or are they the same project?
its cool when directors hit creative strides like this.
Wes got Asteroid out, another one shot and ready to go + two cooking
Luca got Challengers dropping and is already shooting his next one
Yorgos got Poor Things dropping and has already shot the next one

I def fw Tyler but I mean full movies with plots and s*** moreso than just music videos and visuals here and there. He comes to mind tho and it would be dope as s*** if he started doing full fledged movies

He's only 32. A lot of directing careers start later than that. Not like he's less capable than The Weeknd lol
been playing tf out of the 50s country/bluegrass music in this film

Ummm.
People have always accused Wes of being an unemotional filmmaker, and I’ve always thought that was a load of phooey, cause every film has had at least one moment that cuts right to my heart…
But this one?
I dunno guys. Postmodernism is cool and all, but it’s only cool after you’ve already got attached to the primary story. The stuff about our loneliness and anxiety in the universe felt… trite? People say this works better on rewatch, but what exactly is there to entice me to come back? This is Anderson’s weakest crop of characters. Am I missing something?
It’s funny that this film is about first contact, cause by my estimation, it just might be Anderson’s first miss

It's okay to not like a movie. Not our job to convince you otherwise lol

I know lol

The whole paragraph reads like a question. Thought I'd reassure you
I enjoyed this a good amount, think I liked French dispatch slightly more just based on the takeaway but there was still a lot of charm and beauty in this film. I can see why people are split on it because it can be hard to immerse in the story even if both aspects of it are interlinked.

It was an honest question about whether I was missing something. Your response reads as passive aggressive.

No, I think you should actually trust yourself and validate your own experience. You got this.
There are pages and pages of our thoughts on the movie you could look through if you would like some opposing viewpoints. I'm not sure they would do any good.

“You got this.” More passive aggression.
I just saw the movie, I’m still forming my thoughts, I could have different opinions tomorrow. I was simply asking if there was anything that resonated with people. If you felt like you’ve already said your piece, you could have just not responded.

It's just weird to skate over paragraphs of us talking about the film and be like "erm, is this trite? I didn't cry? What's the point?" after we've all shared our thoughts on the film.

Well, either I was dismissive, or you’re insecure. If I was dismissive, I apologize.
