Theatre was cold when I watched it, felt like I was in there with them lol, then when they started eating the stew I felt warm, lmao. Top 10 theatre experience
S*** mine was cold too, got to see it in 70 and immediately picked up the soundtrack. Great film.
Anyone seen El Topo? I’m halfway through it but it’s some of the weirdest s*** I’ve ever seen.
the opening sequence will stay with me forever... I think that was my first introduction to "revisionist westerns"
PROBABLY not though, I'm certain I saw a handful of Peckinpah westerns before that.
the state of my western collection last year
Absolutely beautiful, let’s trade some films lol

El Topo is a surrealist western. Revisionist means they don't treat First Nations like cannon fodder savages.
Been wondering for years why most old westerns portray the south as the good guys, so I had to pause The General to look it up and found a pretty good article (which addresses The General right off the bat )

okay okay I'm listening
Fort Apache was the first imo
Adding that title to my prime right now, thank you!
Trying to watch at least two to three westerns a week this summer so any suggestion is appreciated. Is Ford your favorite western director?

Johnny Guitar
Dead Man
True Grit remake
top 3 Ford;
Searchers
Clementine
Stagecoach

Leone is the best but Corbucci is my favorite between them two,. Kinski in The Great Silence still murmurs to me this day. I'm going to dabble back to Mann and Stewart westerns now to see what I haven't seen. Recently bought Clementine during this B&N sale, extremely stoked I finally have that in my collection,. NEXT I have to get that Randolph ScottBudd Boetticher box set
