In what way is he more cutting edge? Just curious
Content, sound. But then again I know Earl's discog a lot better than I know WSG's so I could be wrong. I'll peep the songs you posted.
what happened to earl? i remember back i 2013 when he was the next to really blow up

I don’t necessarily disagree, but can you elaborate? I do think that SRS, for example, was a really important underground album for how deconstructed it was in sound and theme.
I think WS is cutting edge only in the sense that he’s taking that “90’s sound” and putting a modern spin on it with way more interesting production. No one is doing what Griselda is doing rn as far as “coke rap”. They’re carrying on and evolving that Wu vibe
Those were really just to show him over eclectic production. Full albums show off his creativity the best

He ain’t been the same since IDLSIDGO

I wrote about my favorite Earl albums in that thread, pretty much sums up my thoughts. He broke a lot of new ground for hip hop which for some reason rarely gets mentioned enough, people say sLUms influenced him which is completely true but he influenced them first.
WSG is the gangsta rap Travis Scott, people are only checking for the features & the production. He’s always the weakest part of any project he drops.

he ain’t wanna blow up

He needs to leave that "rapping over samples w no drums" to the professionals.
this sounds 100x better than that dumpster fire of a verse Earl had.
Hell naw bruh Earl stuff is executed perfectly
what happened to earl? i remember back i 2013 when he was the next to really blow up
He could if he wanted to. He doesn’t want to make mainstream music like that
Ok but WSG literally sounds like he’s hurting himself when he raps
Like it pains him 😂
I still like MIKE & MAVI and a couple others more than Earl
Is it true earl sort of took what they were doing??

West couldn’t write an earl verse if he tried, two completely different lanes
and vice versa

i mean he has his own label so it doesn't matter what he sells if its mostly going to him

He kinda bit MIKE’s flow but I think Earl influenced all of slums
