May 31, 2020Mind bogglingly good year for music it’s so hard to appreciate it given the times but so grateful to have it still. Trying not to burn s*** out so I can appreciate it properly eventually

SHAQUILLEThere hasn’t been a single 10/10. Actual 10/10 albums are like 3-5 times a decade imo
And this is why numeric ratings on art is so pointless
Just a false pretense that everyone agrees on what any of those numbers even represent

I’m the same tbh. I do think there are two potential 10’s this year (time will tell) but the only time I’ll give a 10 is if I like every single moment of an album, skits and features included. For example Illmatic or liquid swords. Ready to die can’t be a 10 for example since it has a s***skit and one song that’s kinda meh (it’s still a classic and one of my favourite albums though).

Ineffective for you. For me a whatever/10 is just a quick way to summarize how Someone fees about an album. It’s really not much deeper than that
