Nah they're just little pieces of rubbery plastic, no tech involved, but they're made in a way so that more aggravating frequencies don't reach your ear so easily, blunts the edges of harsher sounds

My old roommate from school listened to rainstorm music. S*** was obnoxious could hear it through walls but now i cant sleep without it

so i live in a attached house from like the 50s w.e my neighbor's washroom is near by my room where i sleep an even with the door closed i can hear the man every morning cough up a lung

Honestly I've only used the 30 ones so I couldn't tell you, but they're very useful throughout the day too for stuff like traffic noise, you can barely hear the difference but you can feel it, they've been really helpful for me since I have very sensitive ears
