    hey man relax

well you must realize there is a great incentive for people to figure out how to phase it out, as social media and internet has obfuscated things so much that language has hit it’s peak low of intuitiveness

I don’t see any incentive for people to phase out language, and don’t really understand what point you’re making about social media?

there is something that is lost when communicating with other people through just words on a screen, there is no way to know the tone in which the person who typed it was speaking in, your interpretation of the tone is simply a projection, or just a wild guess

this leads to a lot of misunderstanding and misconstruing of language and intent, so the goal is to be able to communicate the root of a feeling to another person without having to find the words to describe said feeling or need

it is currently getting to the point where language is something that could be very detrimental to our existence if we continue to make technological advancements yet ignore this elephant in the room. “Words fail”, this is hyperbole of course, but there is truth to this phrase, as words can never 100% accurately describe or get across what you truly want them to

also as years go on people attach different meanings to different words and things get further confused, words that used to mean one thing to people now can mean a plethora of things depending on who you ask

I see where you’re coming from but it’s a huge leap to go from “some things can be misconstrued online / on social media” to “we should work towards eliminating language”.

There’s just so much s*** in the world that couldn’t conceivably work in anyway other than being recorded using languge, whether orally or in writing.

I just don’t see the incentive anyone would have in trying to completely eradicate this just so the relatively minor issue of context being lost in online dialogue could potentially be solved

There’s definitely an incentive to phase out multiple languages. The entire world should just speak English and I believe that’ll be the norm within the next 250 years

It doesn’t have to be English but it’s already the language of science and business and being taught in most foreign countries. One language for the human race is ideal.

I dig that but the post I was replying to was talking about all language being made completely redundant for this Elon musk thing

I will be damned if more companies (especially small firms) don’t do more work from home. especially accounting, sales, tech, etc (3 days at home, two days at the office). Meetings can easily be done through zoom

Buffets are going to be non-existent

Flying will be 10 times more annoying than it already is

Asians are going to get the same treatment arabs/ brown folks got after 9/11

Companies are gonna discriminate even more when hiring minorities

Immigrating to to America will be nearly impossible for any non European country

Colleges are gonna get hit hard with less and less international students
