They definitely not glam metal. They might have influenced the genre because of their androgynous looks, but that’s about it. Give them a shot when you can. Their first 2 albums are amazing af

theyre legendary, one of the most important and influential bands of the "proto punk" style and they influenced like literally every one of the original punk bands. and beyond punk it might be the best glam rock album oat. (& glam rock is way different genre compared to glam metal if you didnt know) one of those albums that i didnt love at first but over time it really shows its greatness and stands above the rest. at first i didnt realize as much how "punk"-y and relatively unique it is compared to every other band of the time period until later, probably after i listened to a lot more punk and rock in general
if i had to pick ~50 albums most important to the rock genre s/t would be in there
and theyre just legends for the whole dressing up as women thing
