I think it’s best to just be fair and nice and treat them with respect, you should stop being goofy that is not a helpful trait

    This a big thing

One of the core aspects of being a great boss is protecting your workers underneath from those higher up who are looking to blame someone

This what separates good bosses from bad ones imo.

There’s nothing worse than a boss that is fearful of higher ups and is willing to throw other people under the bus to save themselves.

If you’re going to be in a leadership position you need to accept that you may lose it when the job doesn’t get done. It’s unfortunate that most systems benefit the most selfish people who couldn’t care less about the people beneath them. This is why so many places have the most fearful mfs in power.

A good leader doesn’t have to be a forceful one that operates on fear.

In any leadership position I’ve had I’ve never had be overly forceful to any individual. When the group believes in the leadership and the mission, the unit itself pushes the individual to do better.

Reject the hierarchy and allow everyone to have a seat at the table with an equal voice. Keep it democratic because the worst thing a leader can believe is that their idea is a good idea, simply because it’s theirs.

I’m in upper management now and it can get pretty weird due to me being younger than almost everyone. I just try to be as helpful and neutral as possible. No buddy buddy s*** but I want everyone to have a good time and feel comfortable at work. Have had to go off on a few people but that’s expected, I’ve got a solid team. As long as everyone does their job and gets s*** done I’ve got no issue with how they do it, I work in gas utilities so the company pretty much runs itself I just have to make sure people get paid accordingly and have the necessary means to get their job done
