Weekly relisten of Alone At Prom.
I literally don’t listen to any other Tory lanez music, but this album is just so f***ing good it’s perplexing that he is the artist who penned it and released it. Truly the best collection of songs together and songs individually that he could ever produce imo. This album is a modern classic imo. From the beats to his vocals, it just boggles my mind every time I hear it how good this is compared to the rest of his discography.

It’s derivative but also wholly an original 80s inspired album when pinned against the rest of 2020s synthpop inspired by the 80s. This isn’t an After Hours situation where a song or two truly sounds like the 80s and the rest is a modern rendition that fits into the modern era; this album can genuinely have fit into the 80s minus the AutoTune.

Tory is truly the rap/rnb version of Stone Temple Pilots — derivative in every single way of the artists that are most popular surrounding him, but also really f***ing good at doing it. Will never listen to another project of his (I won’t even listen to the deluxe version of this because I can just tell from the tracklist that it won’t be as good, Trippie Redd has no place whatsoever on a compilation of songs like this), but god did he really surpass any expectation I could’ve ever had of him when this dropped. May be a solid 9/10 for me.
