    The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

i usually dont play or like open worlds or rpg but this was the first game to now pique my interest in it a little bit. my only point of reference from the game was when witcher 3 came out and seeing all the praises it got around the time and even now to this day, and geralt. after actually playing this game i gotta say he was nothing like i expected him to be lmfao, i thought he'd be the average joe stoic guy just off first looks but hes actually very sarcastic and dry in a pretty funny way most of the time. he was definitely one of my favorite parts of the game as his commentary (some of which you choose) that he makes with supporting characters or just the world around him in general made me laugh a couple times.

the writing and worldbuilding is this game was very solid and quite expansive for a game made in 2007. it consistently kept my interest for the duration of my playthrough because i will be honest, the actual gameplay of this is extremely dated as hell. i think the feel of it being like a rhythm game by how you time you sword strikes as geralt made it a bit interesting but after like 30-40 hours of doing that, it gets very monotonous very quickly. that alone may hurt my chances of wanting to replay this game down the line which is a shame because again everything else in this game was pretty good for me, not to mention the amount of times you have to backtrack around chapter 2 and 3 since this game doesn't have fast traveling or a horse to make progression quicker.

this is one of the rare cases where i think a remake would actually benefit this game a lot from a gameplay aspect, but i do think this game is worth giving a try if you have even the mildest of interest in it.

    8/10

The Witcher 2: The Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition

this game was a great follow up to the first game and it pretty much fixed most of my issues with the first witcher lol. combat is completely revamped in here as you have more control of geralts attacks and how you move around enemies. the first game didn't even have a block button at all which sounds crazy typing that out now but this game now has blocking, parrying, and dodging which probably feels expected in most games in this style nowadays but this wasn't a thing at all in witcher 1. the spells in this game also feel a lot more useful than they did in the first game because majority of my playthrough i think i only used 1 or 2.

there's a heavy focus on potions in this game because now most of the encounters you'll face you will be quickly outnumbered by the amount of enemies that come towards you. creating the exact potion you need and using it before you engage in battle is very crucial as it might just be the one thing that will save your life majority of the times because even a regular jobber enemy can take the hell out of your health if you're not too careful.

there really wasn't a crazy amount of backtracking in this game like witcher 1 and even when you did that paths weren't nearly as long as they were in that game. the story was also pretty good and kept me entertained the whole way through. basically this was a pretty solid sequel and improved a lot of the things witcher 1 lacked at while also including some very well need quality of life changes.

    9/10

I've been playing the witcher 3, there is just so much to do that idk if ill ever finish this game

I’m back on THE FINALS, and I finally got to play the new map..

My god what a marvel of gaming design
The buildings have a higher sense of density than previous maps (don’t forget that they’re also destructible), all while the outdoor environment looks stunning.
S*** is so impressive for a multiplayer game that it makes you wish they made a new Mirror’s Edge.

No game thread but I am playing neon white and it’s a great little indie gem, gameplay wise

The aesthetics and level design remind me of marble blast ultra… a game I loved back in the day

lotr return of the king completed. much better than two towers overall. can see me coming back to both of these games and leveling up characters and trying to do better on missions. easily top 5 movie licensed games.

    Rotk is so good

  • I beat Hollow Knight two nights ago for the first time. It’s a fun game and am excited for Silksong. I’m normally not a fan of metroidvanias but this one scratches an itch. I also enjoyed how the story doesn’t hold your hand and you have to put a lot together based off context. I feel like how this game is packaged is a great way to form a community.

Am now debating whether or not to start Dragon Quest 3. I only have 10 days of gaming left and don’t know if that’d be worth my time in such a small timeframe.
