I know some people look at it as a weakness whereas others think the world would be a better place

I’m an empath so I couldnt imagine not having empathy but I also understand it being seen as weakness because humans have a tendency to prey on people they think are weak

Empathy is a strength. Not giving a f*** about everything is easy.

i think it’s important because people can get lost within their own feelings. if you’re empathetic with them and share what they’re going thru then i’m sure that means the world to em

Anyone who says empathy is a weakness is just trying too hard to be edgy or a genuine psycopath.

we wouldn't be where we are now without it. anyone arguing against it is an idiot or just being edgy.

I thibk the world would definitely be a better place if everyone had a healthy amount of empathy but like someone said above me there's always people who will use that against you

I think empathy, true empathy, is a difficult attribute to have. There are few people who are truly empaths even if they believe themselves to be so.

Often I find that a lot of people who do consider themselves empathetic tend to empathize almost exclusively with people they already feel a degree of sympathy for, or can somewhat easily relate to already.

Very rarely is it directed towards people whom they disagree with, or dislike, or even despise.

I try to separate the human being from the actions in the sense I won’t defend reprehensible actions, but I’ll try and respect the individual who commits them from the standpoint of a human being, a human being whose life experience likely differs greatly from my own.

Even people who appear to others on the surface as evil, which I don’t believe in, are often times, if not the majority of the time, capable of love and kindness to others, you just may not bear witness to it.

The world would be a better place

We’re so far from that though, we wont ever achieve it before this planet gets rid of us

I think it's a very important skill that should be modeled, taught and fostered at a young age. We can't expect to make progress as a society when everyone only cares about themselves.

Empathy and self awareness needs to be raised.. That being said I'm still selfish at times despite trying to understand another persons POV

Ive only shown empathy to maybe 3 people. I don't care about a lot of people.

And those 3 died in ways I wish I couldvw helped

Crine imagine looking at it as a weakness. Would never want that type of person in my life

Something that is sorely needed in our culture that people don't exercise or understand as deeply as they should.

Hate when people think that empathy and vulnerability are traits that demonstrate weakness. Pains me to think that those people walk around thinking that.
