Lil Wayne was probs biggest rapper alive for many years and i don't see near as many people talk about him outside of usa or hip hop circles compared to Pac or Eminem

i think people overestimated how popular us rap is in many foreign countries

to be fair 2Pac got killed as the biggest rapper out and Eminem is a non hick white guy and therefore more marketable worldwide than a face tatted black dude who claims a gang on every album.

  • the sound was. maybe lil pump and X as artists

50 Cent and Kanye are pretty popular worldwide though compared to Wayne.

I think it's just Wayne's voice and delivery.

He's actually really popular in Africa according to my friends from Ghana and Nigeria but I don't think Wayne really crossed over to Europe/Asia/Latin America as much as others.

that period from the late 2000s/early 2010s where he was featured on every other song most likely reflected badly on him. wouldn't be surprised if people outside the US viewed him as a pop rapper like Flo Rida or Pitbull as a result

Eminem, Tupac, 50, Snoop, and Kanye get the most love overseas. Drake is up there too though I'm not sure if he's perceived as an actual rapper overseas.

There's even a Japanese anime with 50 and Ye as the main characters...lol.

there's lots of american rappers that are unknown outside of the u.s

Yeah I just meant the stars (and they're not necessarily household names, but reasonably well known)

Ireland has come up from multiple artists (I've heard rappers and country singers both say Ireland). I went to a festival there a few years ago and can confirm

  • fun guy

My neighbor was from Paris and when we went out I found out she had no idea who Drake even was. Pressed her more and she didn’t know who any rappers were.

I’m not sure there are any rappers that are household names in Europe
