Tyler posted a video from his shoot with Rocky today and I can’t get over how hot this f***ing beat is

It sounds like an old Neptunes track, but the drums being slightly off rhythm make me think this might be like a Neptune’s type beat Tyler made himself. Does anyone know if this track is a thing?

It’s pitched up for some reason tho. I feel like I read years ago tyler pitches songs he likes into keys that he prefers and they become personal versions so idk if it’s that or if there’s a remix in another key

I do this sometimes as well. There are just some keys that are brighter to me, and keys that are much darker. Some warmer, some cooler, etc.

No not as extreme as that unfortunately. It's more of a personal thing that I think I've built up over time. Idk how familiar you are with musical key signatures, but "sharp" keys like B Major or E Major tend to feel much brighter and warmer, vs keys like F Major or Ab Major (which use flats instead of sharps) which I associate with cooler and darker imagery.

neat af, I feel the opposite about E Major, it can tend to sound darker if you stack up more notes on it. When u say "sharp" do you mean musically? or just how you hear it?

An example of this without actually editing music is this:

In The Night by The Weeknd is recorded and released in the key of A Minor (same as C Major). This key is pretty neutral in terms of brightness, but is overall on the brighter side since C Major/A Minor is the most barebones key there is.

In this performance he sings down a whole step in G Minor (same as Bb Major), this key signature uses 2 flats, so I naturally associate that with cooler and darker, so this particular performance personally feels a lot more personal and melancholic, due to the nature of the lyrics and melody.

Sharp as in the key signature/notes used in the key. Since when you "sharp" a note, you raise it's pitch I naturally associate that with RAISING the brightness, or RAISING the temperature or silly things like that. It's all mind games honestly. Since the notes in E Major are E, F#, G#, A, B, C#, D#, that's where my mind takes me.
