It's not hard to imagine considering shady s*** was going on in the studio during recording songs lmfao.

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/music/2019/01/03/surviving-r-kelly-all-shocking-details-we-learned/2476349002/

“The first time I witnessed a sexual act in the studio was during the recording of (Kelly’s song) 'Slow Dance (Remix).' He had one of my teenage friends in the booth with him, bent over. We were all right there. I will not say with whom, but I knew she was underage.”

And I said one could make the case, I wouldn't. Don't worry bruh lol.

I am not worrying I do not care lol I'm not even a huge Kellz fan. If people listen or don't listen to him I truly don't give a f***.

It's more about the commentary on entertainment as a whole. Not a kellz specific thing for me.

I do not however, think of middle school girls when an R Kelly record comes on. Some may and I get it, but I don't. A kellz song comes on and I don't think "QUICK CHANGE THE RECORD I CANT SUPPORT THIS HES TALKING ABOUT F***ING A MINOR" Lol

    that is definitely not sad

i'm listening to r. kelly, i'm not inviting him to my sister's prom

Life is incredibly complicated and I've long felt that trying to project our morals on celebrity is faulty because they live by different rules, and are governed by a totally different societal construct

When you're a celebrity, you're allowed to indulge in a ton of questionable deeds, which are pretty normal to them.

Eh, none of that excuses rape and s***. I think the complicated part is weighing the relationship we had with the art initially against the new information that the artist is a terrible person.

Robin Thicke shouldn't have been canceled for Blurred Lines. The lyrical content in that song is no different than a lot of the s*** you heard from R&B/soul music of the 60s-90s by male and female artists. Which the song itself was attempting (poorly) to pay homage to.

Again, do you really know this? Or are you simply spewing this because everyone else is?

I genuinely have not seen anything that says that his catalogue was made about MIDDLE SCHOOL AGED children man.

there’s a S*** TON of reporting specifically by a Chicago music journalist named Jim Derogatis that covers R Kelly’s sexual exploits with children throughout his career.

and no i’m not ‘spewing’ this bc of other ppl. I didn’t even watch Surviving R Kelly. I had read the articles like a decade prior, way before ‘cancellation’ era, bc I was a fan of Aaliyah and became v curious about that situation.

idk if you’re asking me whether i’m in R Kelly’s head or not. but the facts are that R Kelly hung out around middle schools and McDonalds parking lots, picking up teen aged girls and raping them while he was making 12 Play. I guess you could fantasize that he was thinking about older women when he made the songs if you’re so inclined.

Oh I am not excusing it. There is never an excuse for that

I'm more or less saying that sooo many acts and entertainers indulge in foul s*** that it would be exhausting to try and see who to listen to or watch on the basis of their actions off camera.

    nobody's doing that?

these are acknowledged crimes that were brought up by the victims and resulted in the law being involved.

Majority of those people in your list did what they did in an era where no social media was around for them to suffer the consequences, therefore your point remaining moot. Also, Spotify reneged and put XXXtentacion music back on after majority of the artists (rightfully so) said that's a slippery slope. And R Kelly is on spotify too.

So your whole post is moot.

FURTHERMORE. you said "mute" is only based around Bill Cosby when Harvey Weinstein was going through the exact same outrage and protests at the same exact time.

yes bc those people are stupid and they are probably children who got all their logic from growing up on tumblr. @JGOGang is actually doing them a favor

it's better that an internet forum shames them into having common sense and understanding that the world is complex and every human being is flawed rather than getting that lesson from the real world

so u have a statute of limitations on caring about pedophilia? ahahaha

"nah his pedphilia was in the 60's it's cool"

if the logic is that support and streaming puts money in their pockets, then that applies to all those people who are still alive. Jimmy Page, Steven Tyler, Seinfeld (altho 17 is technically above the age of consent in most states), etc.

u just want to be selective about your outrage and moral judgments. that is your prerogative but don't turn around and act like you're on some superior moral high horse

he wasn't cancelled for that lol. Just because a vocal minority came out about some of those songs, it still gets plays.

It was "cancelled" by Marvin Gaye's estate suing the everlasting s*** out of them for some bullshit that honestly shouldn't have really stood in court but because it's Robin Thicke, I aint really gaf.

Robin Thicke lost his relevancy because he released (once again) a s***ty and hella problematic album about his ex, with an equally problematic music video for "Get Her Back" lmfao

Satire man. Comic relief of sorts. It's not that deep. I genuinely don't care who supports and doesn't support R. Kelly or bill cosby or whoever.

They're in jail getting what they deserve for their awful crimes.

The gist of what I'm saying is simply that EYE am not passing judgement on someone because they like I believe I can fly or listen to the cosby show. If you like the art then you like the art and if you can separate the art from the person then more power to you.

If it was a problem R Kelly should’ve been assassinated before he recorded all that heat.

But no, we waited too long. And now we have no choice but to listen. Listen, without shame.

"so u have a statute of limitations on caring about pedophilia?"

Where in my post did I say that.

Them niggas was sick for what they did. All I did was address you pointing out Spotify and saying if there was a media like spotify in the 60s and 70s when people was doing shady s***, I'm sure more consequences would've been had.

    But it wasn't.

I'm just saying facts. Nothing about this says "nah his pedophilia was in the 60's it's cool."

You continued to use spotify in your argument to support 2 artists....that...spotify still has on their platform.

That was all I was addressing with that argument.
