Had you ever of Skepta or Dave in North America before Drake
Or how people immediately hopped on the Migos flow after Versace
Or how big Tay Keith got last year

If you are talking about influence how is making something popular not influence. I'm not gonna he invents everything but geez.

Drake is the reason Kanye and Jay Z teamed up to make Watch the Throne

He literally influenced one of the greatest collaborations of our generation

Drake literally have more slaps than the Beatles

  • Nov 19, 2019

he has influenced rap culturally by making it a more acceptable genre to listen to worldwide. the general public eats up songs like Gods Plan, hotline bling, that "kiki do you love me" song etc cause they are a bit pop influenced.

musically, he has influenced little to nothing. ktt drake stans tend exaggerate the f*** out of his musical influence on the current generation of rappers

same goes for mr west, but that's a topic for another time

Because Kanye got washed mainstream wise, while Drake is at the top and getting bigger. Drake is his own reference.

ye moved the dominant sound of hip hop away from gangster ideations. he made a lot of rap artists feel more comfortable just not presenting as an uber dominant super gangster and he made rappers realize you don’t have to even compete as a rapper.

that doesn’t mean he really influenced everyone’s sound. and the evidence w drake doesn’t really show he took that much from kanye.

ye changed his sound constantly anyway, so his influence really can’t be that strong sonically. his presence/popularity/risk taking was more influential than any specific sound.

The funny part is that Ye's Influence on Drakes career was never in question on a large scale until Drake and Ye began beefing recently.
